Smokescreen cure for recession

To help its fagged out economy central Chinese county (Gong'an, in Hubei province) has ordered officials to smoke a requisite number of locally produced cigarettes per year or face fines

Three "non-compliant" cigarette butts were discovered by the "cigarette marketing consolidate team" which informed a teacher he had violated the related civil servants "cigarette usage rule". After some negotiation the school was spared a fine, but subjected to "public criticism" for "undisciplined practices".

I bet the locals are fuming.

There is some sense to it guess, unlike our lot who have done there best to kill their 3 main revenue streams:

Alcohol
Cigarettes
Driving

With additional benefit of adding the bar staff, landlords and motor manufacturers to the ever increasing dole queue.

And they wonder why they're broke!

Over here the muppets-in-meltdown are too consumed by their own civil war, but if they did anything remotely similar it would be to force the general population to buy the Daily Mirror and pass tests on the Labour propaganda in it - pointless and unproductive just like their own existence.
