The bandwagon rolls on...

Times online

Times said:
A LABOUR peer who lives in the East End of London has claimed about £100,000 in parliamentary expenses on a flat in Kent that neighbours say has been unoccupied for years.

Baroness Uddin, who worked closely with Tony and Cherie Blair, has been claiming allowances intended for peers living outside London although she resides only four miles from the Lords.

Inquiries by The Sunday Times have established that the baroness bought a two-bedroom flat in Maidstone in 2005 and has named it as her main home to claim almost £30,000 a year in accommodation expenses from the House of Lords.

Residents from the five other flats in the same block as Uddin’s property all say they have never seen her there. They could see through the windows that the bedrooms were unfurnished.

This one may get interesting. Unlike most of the others who admit they have just bent the rules, this lady has tried to cover up and claims to be living there.

Intrusive reporters will soon reveal all and she will make an even bigger hole for herself.

This opens up a whole new round of controversy: Peers' expenses.

Alongside its sister story regarding Commons expenses, this will run and run.

Apparently, we are to expect fireworks when this year's commons expenses are released in a month or two.

Funny old world; this story really could bring down the gov't unless Gordon gets a grip. Which he won't.

You are having a giggle aren't you?

Gordo won't get a grip... but these feckers will have to be forcibly evicted from office by the Police after the next election.

I wouldn't put it past Brown to try a Mugabe and order recount after recount in an attempt to cling onto office as long as possible

This is proving to be quite a morning for Gordon and very entertaining for the rest of us.

Self-serving scum indeed.

Indeed, they're just claiming what is due to them.

Nothing to see here, carry on.

You've got to love his justification, he pay's £910 + girlfriend pays other £910, pays girlfriend back her £910 (no proof that he did) Then claims £2020 of OUR money. Not too bothered that he paid his girlfriends half, its just that a)he gave her some of the rent money back not all of it b)the total rent was £1820 he claimes £2020, so has therefore stolen an additional £200 per month (excluding any money pocketed after his girlfriend's contribution)

Rather ironic that the theif responsible is also the man responsible for catching benefit fiddlers, oh well poacher's make the best gamekeepers

This info is going to be drip fed through the Sundays for months, yet. Its proof that the tide has turned and the press are no longer willing to forgive Labour.

Apart from The Mirror. The silly tw&ts.

It won't take long to count up the Labour votes in each constituency - 1, 2....... 1, 2.........

I have no particular love for Labour over any other party and am actually looking forward to all expense info being published in the summer.

However, if you believe that fiddling expenses is purely a party in government trick then boy are you in for a shock.

We need to change the game, not just the players.

Apparently the Labour Whips have three MPs on 'suicide watch' over publication of expenses and four Ministers have apparently said they may have to resign. Just before the election?

Which is nice.

Knowing they're being watched might hasten them to do the right thing....

Which would make a change!

It looks like July is going to provide us all with hours of entertainment. I'll wager some of the expenses these greedy fecker's are claiming will have all our piss boiling. I'm so looking forward to the Pony excuses that'll be trotted out. Add June's election to the summer fun and this is shaping up to be a magnificent year to watch our "leaders" squirm.
