One wonders how much influence Mandleson (or any other UK politico for that matter) has had in this decision, but fair play its about bloody time someone told the EU to mind their own business. If I choose to work longer hours to either provide for my family now, or enable me to retire early, then that is my right and I'm glad that I can still make that choice.

He certainly has the ambition.....

I guess it depends on which faction wins the battle for Winky's job ultimately.

Does he need to be an MP to be elected leader of the party? If so, that stuffs up that ambition!

I don't think so.....I may be totally wrong though.

It wouldn't be hard for him to secure himself a safe seat though if this wasn't the case.

I just can't believe he is happy to go quietly into the wilderness; it's just not his character.
