..anyone want to buy my old banger for, say 1K and we'll split the difference?

Overnight there's going to be a whole new market in knackered old cars.

Cause and unwanted effect?

Well, look an the bright side. There could be a flood of stonkingly good big engined cars coming on to the market thus reducing second hand prices.
If you fancy a XKR/XJR or V8 BMW, hang on a few months.

You have to have owned the car for 12 months to qualify for the scheme (which only runs for the next 11 months)

It'll be far easier for me to just go in and ask for a £2k discount. No paperwork. No hassle wink

But you can negotiate that separately from the Gov. subsidy - so would you rather have 2K off, or 3K?

I think you should go and read the (main) thread on this subject in GG. The Govt only gives £1k, the other £1k comes from the manufacturer.
