So the guy who masterminded 9/11 got waterboarded 183 times in a single month.
Hell, I would have done it 184 times every month for the rest of his life, and I wouldn't be asking for any information. I'd do it for fun.
What seperates us from the "bad" guys then?Hell, I would have done it 184 times every month for the rest of his life, and I wouldn't be asking for any information. I'd do it for fun.
We are nations of rules & laws , they are scum who commit barbarous acts.

...isn't that what they say as well. The guy is a nasty piece of work and I'm not too worried how he was treated. But given the ammount of sessions they did (if that information is accurate), you have to wonder if it's effective. Or if they were not using it right, thus making it not effective.
Has anyone tried waterboarding? I'm too old now, but I'm sure we would have given this a go at school "for a laff" just to see what it was like, and really how terrifying it is. We used to do lots of silly things like strangling each other to knock each other out, inhaling tippex thinners & deodorant for kicks, so I'm sure waterboarding would have occurred at some point.

As well as confessing to the 9/11 attacks, he also confessed to having been on the grassy knoll, being the animatronix engineer for Nessie and sometimes wearing a gorilla suit and traipsing around the Himalayan foothills.
There you go then. Clear up all these outstanding questions in one.Jasandjules said:
You simply cannot claim to be fighting for truth and justice, then torture people....
Some people would claim we torture 1000s of prisoners everyday by keeping them locked up.You have to draw a line somewhere and say x is acceptable and y is not.
Which is worse? 7 days solitary or 20mins waterboarding?

The difference is that being locked upo doesn't make you feel like you are about to die. depressed, maybe, but not in imminent danger of death.
It can lead to depression and suicide along with the captive hearing voices etc. It can leave permanent mental damage. Does that not count as torture? tinman0 said:

They basically lie you on your back, drape a towel over your face, and pour water over you. It sounds pretty lame, but by all accounts it gives you the impression of drowning, and it terrifying.
not terrifying enough it would seem if they had to go back 183 times.350GT said:
