Very interesting and very scary article.

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/columnist...

I'm ashamed to say that it doesn't surprise me.

D'ya know, that I once considered, having been asked, running for my local Parish Council and I declined because I have a few skeletons in the cupboard. Nothing I'm ashamed about but perhaps not suitable activities for someone representing others (was in a signed rock band for 4yrs so will let you imagne the rest wink). Thought I did the right thing and would never consider the games that slackjaw gets up to.

Yet, this lot are so evil - it disgusts me.

The man is psycologically incapable of saying "sorry".

That is why the current row is so interesting, because he is being forced to say it, and I'm not entirely sure he will be able to...

Even the whitehall mullahs (or is it mandarins) call him Stalin. He's only capable of taking credit for what others did, and denying knowledge of anything he did which turns sour. There are 11 years of his twuntery which back this up!!

I am quite open in hoping he dies a very nasty and painful death - no need to be shy about it.

More evidence they have to go. If it is true in the article regarding the smearing of any challenge of Brown within the Labour Party, it will leave a void of any experienced talent within the party, and no one to fill the void when they get voted out... Can you see Brown as an opposition leader? No, he will walk out with his Golden Handshake, leaving a steaming pile of crap behind.
So Tories win with a majority and a cart blanche to do what they like?

Your sentence indicates that there was a point where there was talent in the Labour party at some point in the past - this is quite clearly incorrect.

Don't get me wrong, I am as blue blood as they come, but I do agree with the notion that the opposition has to have someone with an ounce of talent to keep the ruling party in check.

Anyone who did have any talent in the Labour Party left years ago, leaving us with the current bunch of clowns, who have as much knowledge and experience of economics/business/finance/internation relations/social economics as my cat.

Edited to fix quoting.

I'd rather see Vince Cable in opposition rather than Balls/Millipede

My bosses brother used to work at No 10, as soon as Winky got into power however, he was sacked immediately, for not being vocal enough in supporting Winky. He didn't have a hugely important job I don't think, it's just that the only people who are allowed to work there now are totally devoted to Brown. He was a bully and a thug before he got to No 10, and apparently has always been a bully and thug (from his school days).
It's just unfortuante that there is so little difference in policy from all 3 main parties, the only difference in british politics now is which party has the most smeer's against it at any given time. That's what seems to win elections now, not policy.

Yep, they will indeed (though I think that's almost a non-starter anyway). But on most major, important policies there's little difference. The Torys will be better for our civil liberties, but on Green issues they'll be a whole lot worse. Lets face it, the only reason Cameron is a Tory becuase the greens would never win a general election.
All IMO of course.

Green Issues? A response from my MP (Andrew Lansley)

"The Con party is passionate about tackling Climate Change and has adopted many key proposals which aim to prevent increased degredation of the environment

As per the Con party consultation paper 'The Low Carbon Economy' we propose to re-build the UK economy on the back of new hi tech green industries, intelligent energy generation and transport and energy efficiency in our homes, schools and businesses.

We would contribute towards the creation of a national carbon capture and storage infrastructure allowing energy comapnies to plug in new CCS power stations and making the UK a world leader in developing this new technology.

The Cons are still committed to increasing the proportion of tax revenues raised through green taxes. We have set out a range of green policies, including our Airline Pollution Tax.

G Brown has given green taxes a bad name, using them as stealth taxes. We have pledged that every additional penny raised through green taxes will be put into a family fund to cut taxes everywhere"
