So could you!

This should be in the 'news' forum. Oh no, the 'air, sea, land' one...

Or maybe 'holidays and travel'.

I haven't a clue - but it shouldn't be in 'the lounge' nono

The governments of the world are too forgiving..

get a couple of AWACS up there....when the boys go out to play pirates in a boat...get a couple of jets swopping down with their guns and jobs done! keep this up for a week and you have got rid of the problem!

Ohh no..i forgot..what about the human rights of pirates?

LOL!!!!

I might head down there and become a pirate.

Sounds like a pretty sweet job. And I get to wear a Parrott on my shoulder, which is always a bonus.

Best part about the job seems to be the fact that no one cares what you do. People always give in to your demands. No repercussions. The good life indeed smile

When are people actually gona start taking security down there seriously!

I wasn't sure either and i didn't think starting 4 threads would go down particularly well.

Never mind i'm sure a helpful mod will do the right thing for me!

I don't understand this, we know where these 'pirates' are based, they are causing massive disruptions to international shipping and are a pain in the arse. Why can't we just wipe them off the face of the earth? They are of no use and are operating outside of the law, a few well placed laser guided bombs and missiles should sort them out, it would be far cheaper than paying ransoms all the time.

These people would also think twice about tackling a merchant vessel.

Or am I missing something?

yep...all in the name of training as well!

I personally think a few countries should have naval exercises there and use these pirates and their bases as targets!

Job done! As long as the media are kept shut!

Why don't they treat these ships like they treat American planes stick an armed guard on them. It seems that these pirates are opperating in small groups in even smaller dingy type craft. One armed guard per ship should be able to cause some damage before these pirates get onboard. All he would need is a machine gun and a few granades.

Mexico.

How do they actually scale the side of a huge ship from a dinghy? It must be quite a task especially having one eye covered with a patchhehe

With the armed guy on board, one of the ship owners gave a really plausible reason as to why they don't do it. Can't remember what it was now though.
In my opinion we should do what the French did. give them the money, follow them in several gunships and then when they meet their mates onshore wipe out and arrest everybody. I bet they haven't taken a French ship since.

The other point is that we apparently know where they're all based. Why don't we just bomb the c**p out of them there?

So, apparently, the US crew has retaken control!!!

Reports still coming in, so accuracy is debatable.

Why can't our guys do this smile

Obviously the pirates didn't expect to encounter a Ship's Chef extremely adept with high explosives, and well trained in the art of combat!!

This is the first ship seized by the Somali Pirates with an all-American crew; we were feeling left out.
Looks as if they may have retaken it.

I'd just read this and came on to post an update. Good for them if it's true. I suppose now they will be arguing about who plays who in the movie version next year hehe

I am seeing something about the Captain still being held captive.
