Having the balls to say this when the nation is still on mourning, couldn't agree with him more.

Maybe a bit too soon for her grieving family but he is expressing the opinion of a silent majority.
I hate the cult of celebrity in all its forms, and would echo what Mr Parkinson has said in that they are often indicative of whats wrong with society. Those who are famous for doing something genuinely special, whether it be a movie, major sporting achievment etc... I don't mind.
But when people are famous for being famous and simply hog as much limelight as they can in order to massage their egos, this is something I cannot stand. Examples of these people include, Jade Goody, Victoria Beckham, Simon Cowell and just about every 'artist' he's ever created.
What has brought us to the point where these people are worshipped (see Goodys funeral service) but a policeman who risks, or even loses, his life to save someone is 3rd or 4th story on the news if it features at all. Theres something deeply wrong with a society that holds these values.

Actually, reminds me of when Saint Diana of Our Hearts died. I remember thinking to myself that they wouldn't make this much fuss when a real saint like Mother Theresa died. And sadly I was proved right only a few months later.
And Jade Goody is as far removed from Princess Diana as Princess Diana is from Mother Theresa. Probably far more so in fact.

"Jade Goody has won a posthumous award as the Ultimate Reality Star at a ceremony in London."
I'm not sure where to start with that.

Damned with faint praise...I'm not sure where to start with that.
From the daily telegraph obituary

the poster girl of the curious contemporary cult of talentless celebrity.
Couldn't have put it better.

Actually, if you think about it, she is the ultimate reality star. Even her death was turned into a Reality TV event, so it is strangely fitting IMHO. I'm not sure where to start with that.
