Just out of interest, has it always been very Conservative, or has it become more so with the bunch of twunts in Government now?

Don't know, because there has been a Labour Gummint in charge for most of the time that PH has existed.

In mahooosive general terms, it strikes me that when you have little to lose you vote Labour - it's why students are generally left wing.

When you have worked and saved, you vote more centre to right as you are less inclined to pay even more taxes.

Perhaps those who have nice cars (by working and saving) naturally lean more to the right than the left?

Or perhaps a lot of the people who voted them in at the time are now saying "No guv, not me guv, I've always voted tory. Maggie? God bless her".

Would you admit to voting this shower of st into power?

As a traditionally upper earning membership keen on personal freedoms, yes, its always been slightly right of centre.

Considering the current erosion of rights started well into when the Torys were in power, notably with the criminal justice bill, and only escalated with the current government. I suspect that the st is the same no matter which assholes you vote for...

Criminal Justice Bill was '94 so well into the Tory Autumn years.

This shower of st have done far more damage to the fabric of this country than the Tories ever have.

No, and I didn't. Even though the Tories in '97 were mired in sleaze of their own making, I guessed it wouldn't be long before Labour were the same.

Looks like I was right. Whiter than White? Don't make me effing laugh.

To answer the question?

Yes it most certainly has been a little "right" in general concensus when such discussions come up. There are a number of posters who are notable exceptions - some of whom are most eloquent and interesting debaters - and some who are not, of course, as with the rest.

Whenever we do the political compass it us amusing how many, who often profess different political allegiances, turn out to be awfully centrist.

Understandably - given the site's ethos - anyone who posts opinions like

  • you should all be forced to drive Toyota Priuses
  • no-one should be allowed a car that costs more than mine
  • you rich bds should be taxed until you can only afford a car like mine
  • no-one should be allowed to drive faster than me because I can only manage 45mph in my car
  • no-one should be allowed a car louder than mine
  • you are all bds for eating meat. Do you like my leather shoes?
is quickly vilified.

Because we like cars. The faster the better. We like having fun in cars. The faster the better.

Yes. Very simple really.

Pistonheads was a TVR forum. TVRs cost a lot of money to own and run. Successful people who work hard, earn money, buy nice things like a TVR.

Doesn't help in the current climate with Labour being so unpopular, even poor people can be right wing now!

Also PH tends to pick on people who are a bit thick, so the masses tend not to get a foot hold on PH. Occasionally a couple of lefties get through though, but they are only here for entertainment purposes. Our entertainment of course as they are obviously deluded.

Its like online 'care in the community'.

Don't mind intelligent debate. Even if they are wrong. laugh

Numbnuts, on the other hand, I am pleased to say do tend to get what they deserve.

Much less of that since the new P&P rules, mind, as dim people do tend to run out of determination to post their fkwittery when they need to wait however many days it is to post...

It's also a forum primarily of interest to those able to read and write thereby alienating
many labour voters.

Sad, but true.

Very very sad, come to think of it. For all of us.

Well PH does have standards!

It's important to me, that, as I really cannot be bothered reading posts written in TxtSpk or Chav. I've never learned either so as to be fluent, you see. They didn't have O-levels in them when I was a lad... wink

I expect here are loads of posters here who voted Labour in '97.

The tories were almost as corrupt and out of touch with the electorate as Labour are now. The country really needed change.

If I was living in the U.K. I certainly would have considered voting Labour in that election. I have never actually voted Labour in an election though. Old labour were very different before Tony Blair took them into middle ground.

I'm absolutely certain posters will complain about the next government just as much if the Conservative party win the next election, after the honeymoon period has ended.
