A major Police operation is underway in Manchester, Salford and Liverpool after Metropolitan Police Counter terrorist officers made two arrests in the city's northern quarter, a major hospitality venue area on Sunday afternoon

Properties are being searched in Salford and Liverpool

There are unverified reports of more arrests

The attack on the synagogue in Manchester took place on the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur

These arrests by the Met took place on the eve of Yom Kippur

Met Police counter terrorism command have released a statement saying that they have disrupted a terrorist plot to attack the Jewish community in Manchester over the Yom Kippur holy period

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Vicki Evans said police were aware the news would cause "further concern" to the Jewish community "especially given the significant High Holy day period".


"This has been a long-running proactive investigation which has led to the disruption of what we believe to be a plot to target the Jewish community in the Manchester area," said Evans.

Two men remain in custody

Where is the front pages on dozens of newspapers headlines screaming about a foiled terror plot, seems very quiet compared to the last foiled terror plot by the "far right" to me as I'd expect this to be international headline news.

The one where the PM and Home Sec and plenty of others took to social media to express their outage and solidarity with the Muslim community

That far right plot where all the suspects were released without charge and the CTU said they found no evidence of any offence
