Spanish enclave overun in Mororcco with 49,000 migrants

I thought there would be a topic running on this? The videos posted are quite staggering and official estimates are reporting 'only' 49,000 illegal migrants overun the boarder in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta in the last 24 hours with no hold up.

Seems an unfortunate consequence of giving mass-amnesty to illegals...

I often wondered about this strange little outpost given its susceptibility to this sort of incident given where it is positioned.

So, forgive my stupidity, but what happens next? Are the Spanish obliged to import this 50k people to the mainland to then try to extradite them back to Morocco from there?

Presumably one of the reasons this has exploded is because of a recent Spanish supreme court ruling saying that people who are stopped at sea, let alone arrive by it, can't be summarily returned to Morocco.

And then there's the granting legal status to however many hundreds of thousands in Spain.

Both of these seem like they're going to set up rather obvious problems.

Sounds like the amount of fresh arrivals almost matches the entire population of the exclave which is bonkers.

Seems more to do with Spain-Morocco relations than anything else. 14,000 have apparently already gone back over the border.
The usual talking heads here have already started yelling that they are all heading here, neglecting to mention that this part of Spain is on the other side of the Med.

It happened in 2021 too when Morocco decided to become v relaxed at the border.

Quite a handy little pressure valve for them.

Dunno what the beef is this time. I think it was medically treating some bigwig from Western Sahara last time.

I'd be very curious to visit the both of them, but there's no way I'd want to make a life in a place with such a stark divide a few metres away. And it won't be letting up any time soon.

The only way it gets solved is to make Morocco stinking rich. And everywhere else while you're at it.

The reports I have read is that people are being attacked and raped in their homes, shops are being looted.... And things are being set on fire. Hopefully not accurate reports.
