He was on £355,000 a year. Not too unreasonable.

Edit.

I mean, what do you have to do? Play a few records/spin a few discs. Chat assorted drivel between plays. Keep your hands to yourself. Watch your mouth.

It isn't difficult, is it?

Then cop £355,000 to £359,000 per annum.

I could do that.

I don't care if he killed a dozen babies with a flame thrower, get him broadcasting from prison. He was the best R2 morning DJ since Wogan.

In the grand scheme of things it doesn t seem to be that much comparably?

I mean, how much was Zoe Ball getting?

Just under £1m at one point I think?

Having watched a very short clip of Greg James doing his switching between songs, news and over to other studios, I'd say to do it well is a lot more complicated. Though I understand not all DJs handle that stuff.

Sad end to a great career. His BBC Radio 1 stuff with Chris stark was brilliant too.

I always though he wasn't paid that highly compared to many others at the BBC.

He was paid well because he attracted listeners.

Never warmed to him, to be honest.

To be fair, the gradual disapperance of the old guard - through retirement, removal or death has meant that there are very few left on Radio 2 that I really want to listen to any more..

I still miss Jimmy Young.
