I suppose people never quite know what they'd do in this sort of scenario but what a guy.

'I hugged armed man to stop him bombing hospital'

Absolutely the very best of us.

When you read the story you see it's not just that he approached the guy but that he saw it through to an end result as if he was some sort of professional negotiator. But I guess his personality came out, making him even better than a professional.

A little bit of human decency applied at the right time, and he managed to stop an atrocity. All whilst knowing that there was a bomb a few feet away. Well deserved medal.

Read about this earlier, how we would all want to think we would handle it, that recognition is well deserved.

Well deserved, no doubt about that at all, but is that the best we can do, as a grateful nation, for a man who's saved lives (at great risk to his own), not to mention damage, disruption, and restorative costs?
A medal's 'nice', but he should have handed a big fat cheque too, to show our gratitude in a practical way, and enable him to have an easier life (clear his mortgage)/some nice holidays/whatever. It would be a mere fraction of the cost of replacing all those windows and glass doors.
Maybe he was. I do hope so. Whatever, I hope he has a long, happy, and trauma-free life.

Did make me laugh though. In hospital for a chest infection, with a line in too, goes outside for a vape!

How may of us would react like that and not either try to attack the guy or run away? Not many I suspect.

And he didn't even know he was a threat when approaching him, he was just concerned and being nice.
