Hard to know what to say. It’s so stupid that one has to wonder if there is indeed a bigger plan at work, cos this is insanity.

Mahmood said the government would seek to forcibly remove failed asylum seekers if they do not accept "incentive payments"
If you can in fact forcibly remove then why do you need to pay them?

Paying £40 grand to leave is going to be a massive incentive to come here.

Has to be by design at this point. What is happening to this country?

Is it cheaper than forcibly removing them? Surely that’s the key question.

It isn't though.

I have absolutely no interest in trying to claim asylum in France. If they announced tomorrow that they'd pay me and my wife £10k each for refusing me, I'd be applying before the weekend.

It's insane.

Suppose it is. But then if that incentives even more to come here due to the payment, it will end up costing more.

We need some hard-nosed politicians in power that won t take no st. At this point it s getting ridiculous.

I am going to predict than in a shortish period of time there is a story of a person or persons coming from place unknown who has been deported X number of times and been given £Xm in payments to,leave.

Can I claim the £40k and get the opportunity to leave? Seems unfair that being British excludes me from this payout.

Welcome to the crazy world of socialism. If it’s someone else’s money, money is no object ….

Costs of getting smuggled in are higher though, so it’s said.

Call me a far right racist but isn’t the key question, why are we continuing to spend money we don’t have housing people who have broken into our country? A better solution would be to stop all benefits/accommodation then they will stop trying to flee war torn France.

Instead of rooting out Chinese spies in the Labour party, I think they need to check for Reform secret agents, because that’s the only thing that makes sense when I read policies like this.

Yes. And not just this country. All the countries of what was "The West" are being destroyed in the same way.

And come back again with a different identity.

Ps. Obvious, but politicians are the stupidest people in the wrong jobs. The Thick of It is not satire it's actually a fly on the wall documentary.

Not all… but the ones that are the destruction is definite!

God forbid we say ii loud as we would be sacked from our jobs, treated like criminals and deported. Woke and left are so dangerous for the future sustainability of the country.

They basically score own goals but think they are winning.

Destroy economy, growth to the last penny…. Then blame someone else for the result.

It's a strange one for sure.

I assume that it works in Denmark so what are their policies to prevent "asylum shopping for cash" and abuse of their system?

I can just about get my head around the "better value for money than the viable alternatives" argument but it feels very open to fraud and abuse.

Can we not just do what they used to do in America when they were looking for outstanding criminals, and invite all the people they’re looking for to come into claim their free speedboat, sports car, etc. when it in fact was just a lie, then just arrest them and deport them.
