I was listening to Radio 4 news in the car earlier and one of the main items of news was about Glastonbury, not something earth shattering just about some band.

It’s not really news is it? They don’t do the same for other festivals do they?

Not annoyed or fuming or anything, but it just seems odd that it’s news, when frankly it’s of no consequence or concern to most people. The fact that Charli XCX or cream of sum yung guy of whoever is headlining

I assume the item was about 'kneecap'. They are also in the internet news. Do keep up!

The BBC pay to air Glastonbury therefore it becomes news for them... In the same way a few days before any documentary comes out there's a news article about the subject of the documentary.

I think he's probably referring to Glastonbury in general. If so then yes, it's all a bit much.

As with so many things nowadays, the original reason for attending an event has stopped being that you went "for the event" and instead its mostly now just become a reason to tell others "you've been to the event".

There's so many events I've been too when they were "smaller" and the the people attending were there "for the event", but with the rise of social media/influencers etc what the event "means" is now less important than a quick pout-faced selfie saying "At the event XOXOX" etc with little interest being shown outside of the clout it can gather.

I know I'm an middle aged man now, and this makes it sound like "grrr, the young do things differently" but it really does seem like an awful lot (but not all) of younger people are missing out on enjoying actual "Real Life" experiences as they're so focussed trying to gain "online" praise instead, and I find that sad.

Have you ever been?

Ive had some of the best times of my life at Glastonbury (and other festivals to be fair)

I’m sure a lot of the younger people there this weekend will feel thr same as me.

The BBC coverage also fantastic, maybe some people just need to lighten up a bit eh?

Twice in the mid 90's, and I was there for the music and the experience, just like the other festivals I've been to over the past 30+ years.

Does that pass the qualification requirements for complaining about something I've seen change over the past 30+ years, or are people supposed to be silent unless you personally give them permission to speak?

How about just replying to the compliant (you can have your opinion just like everyone else) rather than attacking the messenger because you don't like the message, although I know thats hard for you to do.

No not really it was mainly about Charli XCX being a highlight then about kneecap.

Festivals are great, just not sure they should be news on anything other than R1 or R6.

I had no idea the BBC paid to cover it, that just seems utterly perverse a festival that attracts 500,000 is in no need of BBC funding. Would seem more reasonable to use their funding to publicise and support other less well known festivals.

Your complaint just comes across as ‘things were better in my day’ and the people today aren’t enjoying it like I did therefore its wrong.

The people at Glastonbury this weekend will be having a great time and making memories just like we did at festivals, isn’t yhat enough without over analysing it?

The virtue signalling has begun. Hamas would happily slaughter many of those protesting for Palestine.

The irony of acts praising that regime at a music festival, when the regime bans any non Islamic music in Gaza.

Even though BBC news is supposed to be impartial it appears it always promotes it's usb stuff
.... Never see them talking about other channels documentaries sorry thorough gritted teeth like the post office scandal where they would always point out they did a special report on it years ago...... But clearly didn't bother to follow it up....
