We've got a few of her cookbooks and liked her cooking shows when they were on.

However it came up on my news feed she's been "axed" by the Beeb, its not fair, she has no need to be "Grateful" and its all a bit much.

Am i missing something. Her contract wasn't continued and she is free to find work at another TV production company as many TV chefs etc have done before her.

Seems a bit over-egged, in her video.

Or am I missing something more here?

Humectant (Glycerol), Maize Starch, Palm Oil, Palm Kernel Oil, Rapeseed Oil, Palm Stearin, Rice Flour, Raspberry Puree, Emulsifiers (Mono and Diglycerides of Fatty Acids, Soya Lecithins), Salt, Stabilisers (Xanthan Gum, Gum Arabic)

I'm glad I don't put my face on shelf stable slop cake.

I basically agree with you but it is simply the way it tends to get presented when someone who has become established on a TV station is "let go". And I think it's worse when it's the BBC - people just assume that when someone works for the BBC they have a "job" there for life. It's why people can go on about some folk being "cancelled" when all that's happened is their contract hasn't been renewed.

I think it's more the talking around it but not saying it's because she is Muslim or something, it's all a bit tired.

You're a millionaire and will get work with C4 or 5. You worked with the bbc for 10 years, you've been very lucky to get the opportunity. Move on.

I thought her shows, that I watched, were in the main pretty rubbish. The cooking poor and patronising, lacking any authenticity. I just add a load of curry powder and garam masala to some lamb and make a shepherds pie??? Really?

They reminded me a bit of James Mays cooking show, where things are distilled down to the lowest common denominator, acceptable from a bloke who doesn t cook, a bit weird when she clearly can.

I did think her show in Bangladesh was fascinating.

Has she said she has been "unfairly treated" by the BBC with respect to losing her show? Or in any way by the BBC for that matter? In the linked video I watched she talks of being expected to be grateful for everything as an immigrant and says that's annoying, but that's not a criticism of the BBC.

The few times I’ve watched her shows, they seemed a bit…st?

Hmm

On the one hand, a bunch of (probably) white blokes are getting cheesed off because an immigrant lady isn't acting how we think she should act.

That would normally be enough to make people keep their head down.

However, I do agree with the OP - the BBC seems to be some sort of gravy train, and any move to get you off it is therefore perceived as a criticism.

I believe Alan Partidge once did a documentary about this? involving cheese.

At least she didn't say "people who don't look like me making decisions about me..."

So whilst she's entitled to be miffed about being dropped, she isn't owed a career by the beeb just because she was on bake off. But I guess people are talking about her, so...

Not far off from where I am Ian.

Plenty of people lose their shows because they're just not performing or the broadcaster wants a change of directions etc.

I suppose if you're Hussain you tick a few boxes (contest winner, minority, female) so there will always be that "be grateful" cohort but it doesn't mean the BBC were obligated to [Partridge]give you a new series[/Partridge].

I could well be wrong but I'm not sure she is "miffed about being dropped". I think the story is about her reaction to people telling her how she should feel about it. I think that's the problem with social media. Something happens to someone and immediately there are thousands of people giving opinions about it. Like this thread really. smile
