Why do they always attack kids? fking cowardly s.
And OP, why do not wonder why it's a "far left attack" for balance?

Horrific.

There's probably hundreds or even thousands of people under 21 in the UK with a firearms certificate. The Plymouth shooting perpetrator was 22 and held a shotgun certificate (and obviously had a precarious state of mental health which the police were fully aware of).

Guy at work, he turned 21 a few weeks ago, he's had a firearms licence for a number of years.

Stuff of nightmares. Absolutely awful and I can't imagine what the parents and families are going through.

Sort of thing we train for all the time but hope we never ever have to respond to.

Culture of hunting/shooting. Same as Switzerland. About to be annulled I would think

What a horrific attack frown

Sounds like a home grown incel type rather an an immigrant/terrorism angle.

Reuters said:
Some Austrian media have said the young man, who has not been identified, apparently felt bullied, though police have yet to confirm this. Authorities said the suspect did not complete his studies at the school.

Police said he left a farewell note that did not reveal the motive for the attack and that a pipe bomb found at his home was not functional.

At what point does it become terrorism?

I suppose it's one of those legal definitions v how most people would see it things isn't it?

Shooting up a school damned sure feels like an act of terror regardless of the cause.

But if the cause is you're a fked up Incel loner type (which seems to be what I'm reading so far) is that an ideology?

Not sure what the legal bar for terrorism is in Austria but here I believe an ideology is required.

Had to look up gun law in Austria.

Very high gun ownership seemingly due to the culture of hunting but you can also say that you need one, or more, for self defence.

There are checks but it does seem very easy to get a rifle/shotgun licence. Handguns are in a higher category but again not too difficult to apply for a licence.

You can also conceal carry and anyone with an EU passport that seeks residency there, can also apply for a permit.

These facts surprised me, I had no idea, unfortunately then, it makes yesterday's awful event unsurprising.
