I didn't think being universally hated was a prerequisite for running for Mayor of London. Perhaps he using Sadiq Khan as a role model..

Unlike many politicians he does have business experience, having run a building and decorating business.

Now I’d love to see inside the mind of the person who would vote for that.

He’s just getting itchy as he hasn’t been in the news for a while.

Or there’s a story about to come out where he’s treated people like st, again.

Let's not forget that Boris Johnson was once voted mayor of London, so being a self-absorbed narcissist isn't necessarily a barrier.

The only difference between them is that Boris has the capacity to be vaguely amusing on occasion, Corden categorically does not.

The answer should be very simple just as it was for Khan.

Field a better candidate and people might vote for them.

I like him too and have never seen any reason not to. His acting and script writing for Gavin & Stacey are particular favourites of mine; I don't understand the haters.

He seems to have had a reasonably successful career, which suggests a fair number of people find him bearable.

I'm reminded of when NYC restuaranteur Keith McNally banned Corden from his restaurants describing him as a "tiny Cretin of a man" and "the most abusive customer to my Balthazar servers since the restaurant opened 25 years ago":

The ban was later lifted after Corden apologised:
