Bit of a dickish response -he came when he was 12 and waited 10 years for a decision - why so long?

We should have a policy that all decisions are made within 12 months so people can stay or leave.

I must admit that I, and others, have probably adopted a somewhat tougher approach to all this over the many years.
Immigration is not the key issue, just illegal immigration - if someone has entered the country illegally they should be deported within days.

What would your decision have been in this family's case and why?

I suspect your answer would always be no.

Poor guy. If he is here perfectly legitimately and is keen to work hard and better himself the system should allow that.

When they are invited, see Ukraine and Hong Kong for details.

Imigration may not be an issue for you & many others , but mass immigration / freedom of movement etc is for a lot of people including me as it supresses/ suppressed our wages .

If we continue to get greater than the population of Oxford each year with no real allegiance to the UK beyond benefits then our democracy is headed for trouble.

THAT

Also see SOME Afghans and Iraqis who helped our troops.

We are NOT duty bound to help EVERY person from every country on the planet who wants asylum. (despite what the morons in this country believe!)

Of course not but I am not sure anyone is saying that?

There's plenty about immigration that is good.
