And they only needed 6 police officers to do it.

This was in the news a week or so back and I still haven't seen a single thing yet that would appear to justify the scale of the response.

I'd be interested in seeing what they sent and how frequently because it's natural with this kind of thing to wonder why it hasn't been published.

Taken at face value it looks a complete over-reaction by the school and the Police.

This is thought policing to an appalling level. We really ought to be most concerned if this story is remotely accurate.

Are you joking?
If you even bothered to fully research the story, you will know a middle aged white Man was criticising the school and may have used a hurty word or two in a private WhatsApp group.
To be honest...they were very lucky!

wink

"causing a nuisance on school property" suggests this wasn't merely whatsapp messages.

I've seen the messages, nothing in them whatsoever.
Apparently they sent 6 officers...in 3 vehicles ... to enable them to take any electronic devices the couple may have used to sent the messages .
Disgraceful use of police resources and there needs to be a public inquiry in my view

The stress must have aged him immensely, no way he's only 50. He looks like he should have retired years ago.

And had been banned from school premises for parents evening, been asked to move their children to and alternative school and police involvement was in relation to harassment of school staff and governors which allegedly started as they disagreed with the recruitment process for a new headteacher. Not quite as simple as you make out. Maybe you could do a little more research

In England, state schools can't directly ask parents to move their child to another school. It has to happen in a different way.

There was a similar thing at a private school near me with a mum causing all sorts of problems for the school.

She was invited in to meet the head and was was told they couldn't get out of their car at drop off and that their kids had to leave the school at the end of term.

They then moved to another local private school, and she was the quietest parent at the school.

Some people cannot take any form of criticism without bringing out the harassment card

But that doesn’t appear to be what they were arrested for.

Apparently they were 'casting aspersions' on Mrs Spriggs. They didn't like that she was made acting head and no open recruitment process had yet begun. They were then banned from school premises.

What I don't get is is officers deemed that no further action should be taken due to insufficient evidence, surely they didn't have enough evidence to arrest them in the first place. The police shouldn't work on the assumption of guilty until proven innocent.

We need a clearly defined 'probable cause' arrest criterion as per USA, not fishing expeditions based on beluga all backed up by plausible assertion. The DNA database can wait.

And who at the Police said 'We've got a troublesome parent and maybe some dodgy messages on their phones. We better send 6 policemen in 3 three cars to investigate it'?

The school appears to have sent letters to parents telling them not to discuss their recruitment process on private Whatsapp groups. Interesting extension of power.
