Not sure how many hit men beat people to death. More like a crime of passion or a disagreement with a neighbor,There is one press outlet suggesting this is a revenge incident as he worked in Financial Crime in FS :S

Sounds absolutely awful.
Andrew Searle was an organised crime financial investigator. A very specialist occupation.
Do companies really employ people specifically working on organised crime? Andrew Searle was an organised crime financial investigator. A very specialist occupation.

Pretty much every bank has such roles, who liaise with the likes of NCA. Often it's the NCA who go asking for details so the banks need to have people working specifically on it.
They didn't just work for banks, and were involved in the prosecution in a number of money-laundering cases. Apparently she was found outside in her pyjamas dead from head wounds, he was similarly battered and hung.xx99xx said:

Clearly they’ll need people internally, but I didn’t think they’d have staff going out in the wild in a visible way. That seems stunningly risky.fourstardan said:
Er yeah... Former senior financial crime investigator for large global bank is found dead with his wife...And he did it as a 'robbery'
Yeah... Nothing to see here guys
I work in a similiar line of work and the notion that after being retired for 10 ish years some wrong uns tracked him down and killed him is a bit far to me, based on a career for a large bank.
If they did, it would be probably more brutal and obvious, aka the John Goldfinger approach, although that is an oxymoron as the paramedics didnt realise he was shot!
More likely, him and his wife put all their eggs in one basket, things didnt work out and he lost the plot etc.
Its a bit of a mystery for sure, but I subscribe to the anecdote that 95% of the time people are murdered by someone they know very well.
