...of Paralympian Abdullah Hayayei.

BBC said:
UK Athletics and the organisation's former head of sport Keith Davies have been charged with manslaughter over the death of Paralympian Abdullah Hayayei.

Hayayei died aged 36 after a metal cage fell on him while training at Newham Leisure Centre, London in July 2017.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has charged UK Athletics Limited with "corporate manslaughter and a health and safety at work act offence".

Davies, 77, has been charged with "gross negligence manslaughter and a health and safety at work act offence".

UK Athletics and Davies will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on 31 January.

Perhaps someone with better/more knowledge of the situation can explain why the CPS is going after UK Athletics. Are UK Athletics responsible for maintaining the equipment or H&S standards at Newham Leisure Centre?

It'll be for a bloody good reason, post HSE report.

It may not have been defective equipment, or a H&S failure for NLC.

Yes, I'd have thought it'd have to be something very significant! Unfortunately the article is very light on detail and does not elaborate further.

Picture of the downed cage here, it looks pretty substantial, but there's several large blocks visible, so it might be a portable one brought by UKA if they organised the event?
