There’s certainly a lot of complaints :-

The ad stars actress Adjoa Andoh, who famously described the white Royal Family on the Buckingham Palace balcony as ‘terribly white’.
It references ‘they/them’ pronouns.
Uses woke TikTok ‘influencers’.
And naturally, Santa, as a white bloke, is a lazy bum.

Never seen anything more disgusting in my LIFE.

Other than that it's an ad. They stuck what they wanted to in it.

Can't see it appealing to the majority of the population, but it's pretty much in line with everything else that's fed to people by now. And if it doesn't increase sales then they can experiment with a cast of pot-bellied rioters next time.

Money has no conscience.

Well I never...

Christmas adds are stupid st.

Car adds are stupid st.

Perfume adds are stupid st, and probably made by people on hallucinatory drugs.

All adds are stupid st.

Never understand why people are so surprised when another stupid st add is released.

Its safe to say I am not the target audience and I would struggle to find a single product that actually has any actual use other than raising money by selling snake oil cure to people who are easily led.

I'm not bothered by the main woman, she's said some controversial things but then so have I, in fact , I still do and will carry on doing so.

It looks like whomever produced the Paris olympics opening ceremony got a job at an advertising agency.

Can't even finish Poppymas in the never ending culture wars before they put Xmas adverts on.

Grr, it angers me when I cannot sexually objectify elves.

I might tell people that I'll shop for things I don't buy in another shop that I've never been in.

Can't believe in this day and age we're still making fun of fat, rich, old, white guys. Disgusting.

The fact this advert has sparked a thread all for itself tells you all you need to know about why the advert is the way it is.

It's not all bad news for those who are offended by the "woke" Boots ad. They can avoid it completely by watching BBC instead. laugh

I regard the majority of adverts in the same way: an attempt to boost sales. One shouldn't get upset or judgemental about adverts because they're just part of a business's strategy. For example, there's an over representation of black people in British TV ads. Fine, whatever. It's just the marketing bods trying to increase turnover.

My head is aching on that confusion… Christening? Can a Mod adjust the title?

Either way the advert is an hilarious own goal. Boots is a mainstay of the high street. I would imagine it will go down like a lump of cold sick to many potential shoppers.

Why do high st companies go out of their way to annoy potential customers? It’s bonkers.

The sad thing is that I work in the IT side of advertising and I know that we deal with the the Boots account (on more of a US basis). The idea that that shatshow originated from my company makes me feel dirty.

Ho ho no.

Because it's currently sitting at a 3000% uptick in related search queries.

But I guess we'll just presume it was made to annoy you, and all agree on that.

Which is precisely the problem.

Clickbait nonsense which is broadcast on terrestrial tv which then drives away actual shoppers with cold hard lucre.

Yay. We won clicks!

Oh noes sales are down over the Christmas period!
What did we do wrong?

The world is not the internet yet its megaphone and the idiotic lifestyle nonsense that goes along with it leaves retail operations that rely on appealing to the most amount of footfall looking effing clueless when their key festive period turns out to be a damp squib. But I’m sure we’ll all be wailing when Boots goes into receivership.

3000% uptick. Lol. Good job.

Hard cash is what Boots needs.
That thing, whatever it was, won’t deliver it.

Calm down bro. It's just an advert.

People be doing what they will.

Are you the Lord of Boots, then don't worry about it.

If you rate the value of clicks so low, why did you post about it laugh

I was shopping t’other week online.

Boots and Superdrug.

Boots had an offer I couldn’t get without some stupid loyalty card crap.
Boots had that weird BLM flag thing in their logo, which I find distasteful.

Superdrug weren’t twits with their offers.
Superdrug seemed to be easier to use.
Superdrug were cheaper.
Superdrug just annoyed me less.

Superdrug won the order.

Boots just need to stop virtue signalling and paying people to virtue signal.

A good business just gets on with their business.

I hate maths too. All the adds, in fact. Although they used to call them 'sums' in my day.

Nope, it's just an advert. How anyone can get annoyed by that i have no idea, especially given there are plenty things in the UK that warrant getting annoyed biggrin
