Had to do a double-take to check this was real.

I know these people exist and I know it's more of a thing in the US with Sandy Hook but how the hell do you persuade yourself that what happened in Manchester was staged?

Let alone to behave that way towards the families of the victims yikes

Manchester Arena attack survivors win harassment case against conspiracy theorist Richard Hall who claims it was hoax

It's gross.

Bordering on lunacy, I might have said.

How this guy and the one in the USA haven’t been given a thorough kicking by a victim or relative of a victim….?

Maybe someone should and then we can all claim they didn't get a beating and they are just acting.

The problem with people like this is that they would claim the beating was an attempt to silence them by 'the deep state' or some such bks.

That said, your second paragraph does have a certain genius to it, use their stupidity against them...

We have people up here in Scotland who are convinced that Nicola Sturgeon and her CofS (Liz Lloyd) were deep MI5 agents who kept throwing the case for Scottish Independence.

There are also people who are convinced that the Salisbury poisonings were done by the British State.

All makes interesting internet chatter but the Manchester story is just strange and, of course, very insulting to anyone involved as victims/families etc.

If you go on Twitter and put in "are responsible for 9/11" in the search box, thousands of tweets come up blaming Israel/Jews. Just scary how many halfwits are out there.

The poor people involved were present in court.

He took videos of them and spied on them going about their daily business.

How could he think they were ‘acting’, the poor guy is in a wheelchair and the daughter needs constant care. Peppered with shrapnel.

Does he think they are just committed to ‘the cause’ or getting paid really well? Fake scars or put in place by surgeons?

It’s like that Jones in USA. I just can’t imagine how you think people would put their kids into a relocation and to live under false names forever as part of a plot. Or that they never had kids and are just pretending.

Some simple research, like asking the neighbours, would have thrown up some doubts surely.

Madness!

Did he really believe it? Or cynical ploy to make money …then lose it.

Clearly a particularly nasty horrible little character. That surely goes without saying.
But it pales into insignificance compared to feelings about the perpetrator of the atrocity, and the hateful idealogical beliefs that led up to it. You could also claim these are 'Conspiracy Theory', just a different chapter in some people's warped sense if reality as a result of ingrained societal brainwashing.

With people like this I think they start out as contrarians, liking being edgy and the sound of their own voice.

Once they get a bit of a following, and start their grift they feel validated.

Really they just need calling out for being what they are, rather than any mild attempt as playing their actions down.

I honestly can't work it out.

Literally can't get my head around how you could see or read any of what happened where and think it was staged or hoaxed or anything like that.

Outside of any mental health angle it's simply abhorrent behaviour.

He's lucky he didn't try that st on Barra, where one of the young victims and two of the survivors were from - he wouldn't have made it off the island in one piece (or at all). What an utter tt.

Yeah I knew there would be one or two...there always is.

Keep singing 'don't look back in anger' you two, eh.

ETA...and just to be clear...there is a very clear difference between Islam and radical Islam. It's the same for any belief system really. Most of the time a group or religion is fine, not really my cup of tea...but if you want to believe in a fairy tail, then whatever floats your boat. Just leave me out of it...but you always get the breakaway nutters who take thing too far. There are two examples at play here...the Radical Islamist who committed the atrocity, and the nutter who thinks it was staged.
How you deal with these nutters, I have no idea...but I would suggest the answer comes from within. I won't hold my breath.

Important to distinguish that he was sued for harassment. He stalked the victims house and filmed them, presumably to prove they were lying. Real nobbish behaviour.

He wasn't sued for simply believing and repeating conspiracy theories.

Yes - but Timothy wants to talk about radical Islam. rolleyes
