Seems insanely light to me. I thought the most serious manslaughters carried a life sentence. I guess not.https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c8e6wggw233o

How does it make sense that you get minimum 22 years for knocking a scrote off an illegally ridden motorbike but 14 years and out earlier for killing a kid and costing the taxpayer millions while running your drugs business?
Whilst I agree this seems lenient, the case you are comparing to was deliberate murder.ChocolateFrog said:

I assume because one was murder and one was manslaughter.Sentencing remarks for the latter are here https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/0...
Appears that he was sentenced to 17 years which was reduced by 17.5% to 14 years for his guilty plea. He must serve two thirds before he can be considered for release on licence.

In this case, the offender (and accomplice who died) didn't *intend* for anybody to die, they were just reckless. They were probably aware of the risk of a leak/fire/explosion, but either didn't think it significant, or didn't care enough to take steps to prevent it (or simply not cook drugs in a shared building, or at all).

Our joke of a justice system rears its head again. To do this whilst carrying out a illigal operation should have been life.
