Unbelievable stuff - I had to watch the video multiple times to get my head around what happened here...

How can a car reach such ridiculous speeds in an urban area? - harks back to Range Rover SVR guy in North Acton.

Does the car plough through pedestrians? I can't work out what the debris is that the car initially takes with it.

No idea how you can acheive such a high speed in such a built up area. Crazy.

Was it a Nissan Juke?

I know that area quite well. It's almost like a war zone to drive around (which I do 2 twice a day). Nobody knows how to drive, and nobody cares.

Moderator edit: no casual racism please

But isn't it a 20mph zone?

Seriously I hope it was the driver that died but I'm guessing it's pedestrians frown

Auto?

Pressing the accelerator thinking it’s the brake?

Quite common (but not as dramatic).

We really need to remove airbags from the drivers side IMO.

A few possibilities:

  1. Driver has a seizure, or epilectic fit.
  2. Driver has had a mental breakdown, decides to kill himself and doesn't care who he takes with him.
  3. Driver on drugs, or has some sort of schizophrenic attack, imagining he is being pursued by whoever.
  4. Escaping the scene of a crime (one would expect the Police to know about this unless it was unreported, e.g. stealing drugs)
  5. Electronic throttle fails as per Nissan Leaf
  6. Driver moves seat, inadvertently pushes the floor mat jams throttle open.
One would expect the driver to apply the brakes, but some just freeze when something unexpected happens. Maybe the brakes were faulty too?

7. Driver is scummy.

No way that was an accident - too many other things to hit before he got that far. (IMO)

Watching the video, I can't get over how the pedestrians carry on as if nothing had happened. Not one appears to stop, turn and stare.

That clip in the first post is horrific especially now knowing you're probably watching someone's final moments. RIP young lady.

Fairly sure that linked video does show the pedestrian being hit. No idea how they got a Juke up to those sort of speeds in that area/traffic.

Looks to be a very low mileage car - 1.0 litre engine. Has to be stolen or a hire car?
