OVO energy have announced a 50 million pound package aid for the benefit of U.K. pensioners who have seen their winter fuel allowance removed by Labour Government. I don’t have any details of the packages as yet regarding qualifying, no doubt OVO will announce very soon. Will other energy suppliers follow suit, can’t imagine not doing so.

Wait for the details.

January's sad face Daily Mirror bks will be how pensioners are being fleeced by the rates being 0.1ppkWh more than the competition biggrin

Commercial opportunism. What other sad face group are they setting a fund up for? And which of their other customers will be getting bummed to pay for it?

Just charge what you need to charge and stop dicking about.

Indeed, some sketchy detail emerging about home insulation, boiler exchanges and ‘special rates ‘.
I expect Martin Lewis will be all over this offering his usual excellent sage advise. Hope for some genuine money saving opportunity that will have their competitors scratch chins.

Nice of them to do something, and it gets the some nice publicity as well.

Shame our own scumbag government put them in the predicament in the first place. Starmer is a total disgrace.

Whatever the details are they decide to do, it will not be because they are nice.

The scourge of marketing.

£50m seems like a lot, but it's a lot less than the >£1bn granny harmer Starmer's saving. I wonder how they'll target it.

Most energy suppliers have hardship funds or similar, so I expect this is just reallocating that, or part of that hardship fund which will likely not be for all pensioners but only those who can demonstrate need.

As has been mentioned, they are not doing it for no benefit!
