IMO you don't tackle poor eating habits by pretending junk food doesn't exist.

No, you don't. But it's one more thing to help reduce the consumption.

If that's the only thing you do I agree.

But I also see zero downside in doing so.

Advertising junk food doesn't really benefit anyone except the companies selling it.

Definitely a step in the right direction. You don’t see the adverts there is no trigger to pick up the just eat app. Still the voices in your head to deal with.

I've thrived on junk food for 62 years and counting.. It's been a very long time since I've needed ads to sell it to me...!

All advertising does nothing but benefit the companies selling the product, hardly a revelation.

You do it by educating people and encouraging/incentivising good habits.

Pretty typical gov project though, do they honestly think the younger generation even really watches traditional T.V.

The article said:
Labour said the watershed on junk food advertising would be enforced alongside a total ban on paid-for online adverts, both aimed at tackling childhood obesity.
I wonder how this is enforceable given the nature of the Internet but it's not just about TV advertising.

"Junk food TV advertisements are to be banned from airing before the 9pm watershed as part of the government’s drive to improve public health.

In addition, online ads for products that are high in fat, salt and sugar will be banned altogether, Andrew Gwynne, the public health minister, told the Commons on Thursday. Both measures will come into force on 1 October 2025."

won't be long till butter, cheese, salt & sugar have to be sold in plain packaging or maybe the packaging will have to have subliminal, shaming pictures of obese types?

Sorry to keep asking questions. How do you "educate people"? I hear that on PH once in a while but just dont understand what it means.
