This guy has already been in the news recently for something completely unrelated and now this. 15 people rescued and six still missing.

Very odd a yacht that size (so not some fancy gin palace) to be lost. That's a sizable yacht at 58m.
Yeah a head scratcher for sure. Reports of being hit by a waterspout, but can't see that wrecking such a yacht. Unless it was enough to keep it on its side with open hatches, maybe.Shame for Mike Lynch to go through all that and not be able to enjoy years out from under the cloud.

A freak accident.
What a sad story. Shocking that it happened so close to shore rather than out at sea.
For people who know these things - do these expensive yachts compromise any stability for aesthetics or is that not relevant? I remember there were stories about Steve Jobs' yacht being barely seaworthy because of his insistence on it looking a certain way, but I dunno if that's an exceptional story or not.

Not relevant if it's charter certified. For people who know these things - do these expensive yachts compromise any stability for aesthetics or is that not relevant? From the sounds of it, we're pretty much talking tornado/waterspout hitting it with no warning whilst at anchor late at night. Nightmare scenario.
World’s Second Tallest Mast and Largest Aluminium Mast at 75m

"Witnesses told the Italian news agency Ansa that the force of the storm caused the ship's 72m (236ft) aluminium mast to snap in half and the boat became unbalanced." (BBC)That would make more sense. Tragic loss.
