Seriously, how on earth can anyone think this is news???

BBC News - Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury announce split

If they were facing a child cruelty prosecution for calling their poor daughter fking Bambi then that would be fair enough, and at least splitting up has ensured they're less likely to give her a baby brother called Thumper, but as it stands, what the hell makes anyone think this is worthy of mainstream media coverage???

The only time I want to read news about a celebrity is:

1: They've acheieved something awesome
2: They've done something illegal.
3: They've died.

I honestly don't need to know about their day to day life. I've got my own to give a st about.

I'm glad they stated who they were because I don't recognise them.

This is the first time I have heard of either of them.

Why is this on Pistonheads? I come here to avoid crap like this, so thanks for that Kermit. You are now the one spreading this non news.

More newsworthy is how you managed to post this up before Stewie got there. His standards are slipping.

Will somebody think of the slebs.

I avoid all "news" as it seems these days to be competing with all the BS on social media.

You are going to have the rest of your life to froth incessantly about children's names. Getting upset about the names younger people give their children is a sure sign of getting old and harking back to the 'good old days' when everyone was called Karen.
My great-grandaughters name is Nellie. I am sure you will be upset about that one too. Personally I think it is a lovely name for a gorgeous little girl.

It's his sleepy time.

He'll be along soon when his carer waves the catnip under his nose.

Any 'news' that starts with a statistic is not news. It is a press release from an organisation with a vested interest in the subject matter, using the statistic to imply that a problem exists that their organisation can fix or mitigate in return for money and resources.

Who and who? I couldn't care less about either. Celebrities are just overpaid idiots that are good at a single thing that mostly contributes nothing to society.

Not that I do either. But you don't have to read about me in the BBC. smile

Maybe it's a sign of normality returning that News has a little time to focus on some celebrity nonsense, in between the War, The US Election and Pandemic / Political / Brexit mess at home.

Why on earth would I get upset about your great-granddaughter being called Nellie? confused

It's typically a diminutive of another name rather than a Christian name in its own right - Dame Nellie Melba is officially Helen, for example - but it's a perfectly nice, normal name all the same.

Say "Bambi" to 99.99% of people, and they're going to come back with the Disney deer, which was a boy, btw.

I imagine in this era of online news, where people click on individual stories rather than watch/listen to the whole of a traditional broadcast, these fluffy celeb non-stories get much more clicks/downloads/comments than the serious news stories, and that is what the media companies can sell adverts against.

That's no excuse for the BBC though, they should be above such tawdry matters, but I suspect that want to show increased youth engagement with 'The News'.

Was this a main story on the BBC 6pm News, or ITV News at 10?

There are thousands of news stories on the BBC website, this is just one of them. I doubt your the demographic this is aimed at, so no need to be annoyed by it. They appeared on a very popular ITV show, he is the nephew of a world famous boxer, and the have millions of fans on social media.

While it might not be news for you, it might be interesting for someone else. Given they have placed it in the entertainment section, then i presume they are not thinking it has the same impact as covering Gaza for example.

A quick google suggests that Bambi as a female name originates in the 1920’s that gained traction in the ‘40s and 50s again as a female name, yes because of the Disney movie and despite the deer being male.

Don’t know who the couple in question are, nor do I care, but their daughters name is hardly grounds for child cruelty.
