This is appalling but it's also disturbing.

It seem that every day there worse and worse stories on the news, shop lifting, riots, kids knifing other kids, nutters stabbing young kids etc, it does feel like society is not what it once was.Violent attacks on women and girls on trains 'rise by more than 50% in two years'
Tate?

I think alot of it is that many people have become alot more self centered. And dont fear the law or feel they need to follow the rules.
And its not "the cost of living", people have been poor since time began.
I do wonder what world im leaving my grandkids.

From the article: "British Transport Police said the rise was because people had become more willing to report these crimes to the police."Violent attacks on women and girls on trains 'rise by more than 50% in two years'

So sounds like no increase in actual attacks but a higher percentage of people feeling comfortable reporting it and generating a crime number, which is a good thing.
We haven't had a good war or massive natural disaster in a while, one that involves everyone. That would release the excess pressure and stop much of this appalling behaviour.
Its a radical statement I know, and very hard to believe but while everyone is going around feeling all "im worth it" and like their very existence is a god given right and that they are a special case for everything we are going to see a rise in entitlement and poor behaviour, fueled by social media and the ego reinforcement algorithms that chuck dopamine hits at these nonself aware individuals.
Life is only as easy as it is because we largely work together to make society work, once that breaks down and some actual hardship happens people will soon be keen to tow the line again and feel grateful.

I presume you're in the Army.. 18-35-ish, non-commissioned rank... ready, willing and able to prosecute this war?Its a radical statement I know, and very hard to believe but while everyone is going around feeling all "im worth it" and like their very existence is a god given right and that they are a special case for everything we are going to see a rise in entitlement and poor behaviour, fueled by social media and the ego reinforcement algorithms that chuck dopamine hits at these nonself aware individuals.

Or are you ready, willing and able to allow other people to die for your war fantasy?

My point is that while its all easy and nice people forget how much of a struggle life was for pretty much the whole of human history apart from this little bit now
They feel entitled, and act like it, we are seeing a lot more of it in society, they are the "ill do what i like" crowd.

I think such incidents (reported or otherwise) were very rare 60 years ago.
Perhaps we need to look at what has changed since then.....
I think as a general rule people were more humble and lived simpler lives unencumbered by the stresses we place upon our minds in the course of a normal day, we are processing information and stimuli to the point that we cannot relax. That is most of the problem. Perhaps we need to look at what has changed since then.....
This constant input corrupts our person to person interactions and poor behaviour is the result, mixed in with the lack of any kind of perspective from rarely having to worry about actual survival and we are where we are now.

And don't forget unchecked immigration from cultures vastly different to our own. It's not like we only allow in the best of the best is it? I know we're told all these young blokes are doctors, scientists and engineers. But are they really? I'm not so sure.
Nooooo...no. It's Tate or Incels for sure nuyorican said:

What unchecked immigration is this?

The issues with society are entirely rooted in the unfairness of society.
We have massive corporations sucking wealth out of the country through profits that they pay barely any tax on.
We have a class of ultra wealthy individuals buying up any and all assets.
We have a massive disparity in wealth geographically.
We have a class of people who are living near poverty despite working hard.
We have a criminal justice system that's been criminally underfunded.
We have a significant amount of asylum seekers left to die of boredom in hotels and camps because the last Government didn't process their claims.
We have a significant amount of illegal migrants who are living and working among us in criminal enterprises.
We have corruption that until recently, went right the way up to the top of Government.
We have generations where the majority see little hope of owning their own home.
And on top of all those issues;
We have a resurgent far-right pretending there is a simple answer that involves banning trans people or anyone who is Muslim.
A far left that's more interested in giving everything a label and creating awareness campaigns on it.
And a Center that's more interested in the jazziest soundbites than actual policy.
Life is pretty st for most people, all in all. Making it stter so they appreciate what they had isn't the answer.

Most unchecked immigration of the last few decades has been from the EU. Is assault of women on trains attributable to that? Do European countries tolerate it more?richhead said:
