If you've seven minutes spare, give this a listen.

Heard this in the car and felt genuinely motivated by the guy. Probably the most sensible caller I've heard call in.

I had LBC on in the background, as I often do, when Darren came on. Straight away I stopped what I was doing and listened intently to this guy. What a brilliant caller! He expressed exactly what I feel about modern Britain and his contribution was such a refreshing antidote to all the doom, gloom and negativity that we've had this past week.

Well played, Darren: you sir are a star. As the OP suggests, give it a listen; it'll improve your day.

Nice/refreshing to hear smile

As I said on the Southport thread I think most British people are like the caller. The EDL lot are a minority.

Like Darren I don’t think most of the Country has any problem with Immigrants that have come here to work and contribute and assimilate . I work in Construction and my Industry is full of these types . The problem as I see it is those that don’t and there are plenty . I also include many English in part of this statement who clearly aren’t prepared to work nor contribute . Welfare urgently wants cutting and these idlers forced into work

Gruff sounding mid 50s doorman gives a succinct and accurate definition of what the 'Great' in Britain is... or should be.
The last time Britain was Great chap was when it controlled over 20% of the world’s land mass and exploited both the People and their Resources .
I make the apex of this Great Britain to be around
1920 . Some would say we are only getting our comeuppance

That’s Darren’s view and outlook, I can’t say I share the same.

It’s a complex topic Mark and one most working men I meet are thoroughly sick of . Worst still is this constant labelling of decent People as Hard Left or Hard Right .
Clearly tolerance only applies if you adhere to what the Media and duplicitous Governments tell us is Mainstream and thus acceptable

Do you genuinely have to ask that or are you looking to start an argument ? The caller is talking about a Country that simply doesn’t exist and never has . Immigration is the issue and the question that wants asking is can it ever be unrestricted . I believe it can’t . The next problem arises when a Politician agrees with me and seemingly can’t do anything about it . This has been the position of every Prime Minister since Thatcher

It was probably “Great” for a small minority back then. Whereas now it’s pretty damn good for most British people.

Why are some people so negative about the UK? If you think it’s better elsewhere what is stopping you from leaving?

Well Muzzer, my life experiences are not that of Darren.
Paul, had this exact same conversation with a friend last night.
“Hard right” is a go to for many an organisation wanting to quash what a growing number in society are feeling at the moment. They are getting it very wrong.

1. I wasn't speculating on whether the poster, or Darren on the call was right or wrong.

I was curious as to which part markbigears was disagreeing with.

It may be obvious from your perspective and your opinion, but you're not markbigears.... smile

2. Was unrestricted immigration discussed? Forgive me if it is discussed, I only had time to read the written summary above.

Immigration is restricted.
