If I understand correctly, the £300 figure is a forecast for 2030-ish.

Not a promise to slash everyones bills by £300 tomorrow.

And the answer to the question "is the Daily Mail lying" is always yes.

So in 2030 I will be paying £300 less than today?

Be interested to see how that works with say even an optimistic 2-3% inflation rate per year. By rights if you are paying say £230 per month now for combo electric and gas you are paying around £2800 in bills pa.

Assuming say 3% inflation over 6 years that 18% uplift in bills.

i.e. around £3300.

So if £300 is a net saving on where we are now some how he needs to conjure up a magical £800 reduction (£3300 - £2800 - his £300 = £800 differential).

I smell st.

Apart from the fact most of the UK don't pay £230 a month for fuel. Our bill is currently £110 per month for a 3 bedroom semi. My MIL who seems to have the heating on constantly only pays £195 for her 4 bedroom detached.

Labours plans mean a £300 saving in 2030 will buy you a pint of milk.

OP, have you considered the possibility that with one being an absolute sthouse of a newspaper, and the other being a politician, they both tell fibs?

If I recall right, the numbers are coming from https://ember-climate.org/insights/research/uk-off... or at least a report they did for Labour.
