End of Strictly?
Discussion
There seems to be a few stories emerging now about the treatment of the celebs in the past.

My wife is more paying attention to this than me, but hearing some of the stuff and the story of the guy hurting his knee was new to me, it just screams old school TV production of "ach you'll be fine" then it goes to st and they ghost people.
The caring BBC is as caring as any tv production, and as said above if chaperones are needed, celebs wont want to be doing it for either fear its going to be awful or fear the dancing wont be as good and the show will die due to them and any public backlash.

Strictly has to have the potential to be one of the most toxic shows in light entertainment:
- Huge brand
- Highly paid presenters (paid multiples of the celebs or dancers)
- Celebrity judges, many of whom come from the dance world. Craig Revell Horwood isn’t being a panto villain. I expect that’s as nice as gets.
- Professional dancers (more below)
- Celebrities keen to get the halo effect of the brand
Impossible timeframes to work to each week (more below)
It’s the latter that bothers me the most. You get people who - unless they have had at least some dance training - are expected to go from zero to competent in a week. Fine if you’re a pro - you have a dance brain for choreography and a lifetime of technique - but bloody hard work if you have two left feet.
Couple that with the attitude of all dancers: perfection or nothing. And a life experience where super hard training and rehearsal schedules are the norm. Then add in the desire to remain in TV each week as this is the pinnacle of their career and launches them into other work (Anton du Beke)
And then, every Saturday night, we the public sit on our backsides having not done the 70 hours of learning/rehearsal to get to the show and…. We judge them with a flick of the mobile phone. And laugh at them when they plod like donkeys.
My 13 yo daughter wants to be a dancer (not ballroom/latin) and is under no illusion how tough it is or how precarious a living is created by it. Her response to hearing about allegations of bullying “What do they expect? They need to toughen up.” That’s the mindset of dancers.
The sad thing is that dance is very much under-represented on TV beyond the hyperfocus on ballroom and Latin numbers each autumn. And this is hardly going to improve that.

This story has been bubbling around for a few weeks and I admit I haven't been taking it too seriously...
Just so I'm clear though, all this talk of inappropriate behaviour, doesn't mean anything sexual or anything like that, just a couple of professional 'celebs' being pushed hard to win a contest? Unless I'm wrong on that, I'm struggling to care much. It's a competitive, physical (would you call it a sport?).
I have to admit, it sounds like a bunch of people who are unused to being told what to do, being a bit upset in hindsight.

Hmmmm, I'm not so sure.
Strictly is one of, if not the biggest show on the BBC. Millions watch it.
You don't give that up easily. Suspect that they'll put some kind of independent chaperone system in for the training and say they've taken care of it that way.

My parents hate the BBC, hate the presenters, hate paying the licence fee, yet every Saturday will tune in for Strictly.

That was what I thought but there has been some additional bits of someone being kicked (WTF) and now the initial complainant is actively encouraging former celebs to come forward with their stories of abuse. Depending on the reporting, the issue is either bullying & assault by professional dance trainers or snowflake celebs just being snowflakes.Just so I'm clear though, all this talk of inappropriate behaviour, doesn't mean anything sexual or anything like that, just a couple of professional 'celebs' being pushed hard to win a contest? The actual truth will be somewhere in between these two extremes.
