Wouldn't surprise me.
We had a load of trouble in the West Midlands on the run up to the general election.

Good, if like me you saw how Jess Phillips was treated during her acceptance speech and with scenes from across the pond over the weekend, there is no place for this sort of stuff.

Good post Stewie........... I agree with you.........abuse, intimidation and harassment of any candidate is not acceptable regardless of their party.

+1

I'm not seeing any signs it will be stopped in the UK, though.

I'm.pretty sure it's already illegal and nothing has been done, so not sure what would change in future.

I'm pretty sure there was a thread on here where the OP had been "invited in for a police interview" for something extremely trivial relating to asking for his son's football trophy via F..book......so perhaps its a question of the police getting their priorities right?

The issue is a lot deeper than ‘May have been coordinated’.
There is a real problem here.

Jonathan Ashworth in Leicester had an extraordinary campaign conducted against him to the extent he ended up being pursued down the street by a mob:

https://www.thejc.com/news/politics/defeated-labou...

His successful opponent was independent Muslim MP Shockat Adam.
One of Shokat’s key allies was Majid Novsarka. A man arrested 5 days ago for encouragement of terrorism and supporting a proscribed organisation (ISIS).

https://www.leics.police.uk/news/leicestershire/ne...

Said Novsarka has a long standing history stirring up racial tensions in Leicester. You can see his tweets here:

So having been arrested immediately a crowd forms outside of the station where he is being held. A leader amongst the group stated

“If they (the police) arrest someone, we’re not just going to back down and let them get away with it”.

What is happening is deeply worrying. Forget ‘coordination’. It looks like there are a number of local sects setting out to completely undermine social cohesion, rule of law and the democratic process. And who have weaponised Gaza for the purposes of extreme Islam.

And just to underline the point, these campaigns have now resulted in the election of fellow travellers (6) who are now sitting in parliament.

Growing concerns about the impact of bot farms as well, directing misinformation across social media. Tackling these issues is difficult for a variety of reasons, where do you start.

Sounds about right. Unfortunately their power is only going to grow as their sect/religion/community grow. Politics and the implementation of laws based on religious belief is now a reality.

It isn’t yet, and doesn’t have to be.
However if Labour send the APPG definition of Islamophobia into law there will definitely be a problem as it will essentially make a blasphemy law a real thing.

It's all very concerning. But then again not surprising given the highly partisan nature of the Gaza protests.

I'm just surprised we've not had some PH hand wringers (from the usual list) pop up to remonstrate.

It’s worth popping up Ashworth’s interview with Marr.

This isn’t good. It’s not normal. It ought to be a source of concern. Especially in the context of events recently in the US.
