Surprised this hasn't been mentioned.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c6p2660ldn2o

Apparently people have been getting an email to go and collect a letter and then get on a bus and go home, seems a pretty brutal way of doing it.

I looked at their careers page and there is not a single engineering position advertised in the UK on there, a few in Malaysia. Looks like he is moving most if not all R&D out of the UK.

Considering he pushed from Brexit and more engineering people in the UK, what has gone so wrong he is moving all his lauded engineering else where?

One hell of a vote for the UK.

Brexit voters were made false promises and fed falsehoods. By Dyson. By Johnson. By Farage... all of them. It's clear to see.

Funny how few come back and admit they were wrong.

I think they know what's coming, and there will be other businesses either making plans or looking on enviously.

Big Dyson shops in my local malls (Bali), one in a shopping mall I was in on Sunday in Vietnam.

In JKT and in Singapore.

Global sales in a global economy. New markets that are experiencing growth.

They have obviously made a choice as to what location suits best in terms of business.

I have had two clients leave or very heavily reduce operations in UK post-Brexit. Understandably so.

I find it interesting to read in UK press that ‘the vacuum cleaner manufacturer Dyson…’ when I don’t know anyone that owns a vacuum cleaner and those products are not even promoted in some of the Dyson stores.

I struggle to see why anyone does business in the UK anymore, but I don't think it is just the UK, when you buy German white goods most are not made in Germany, when you have a global company they can easily compare costs, and things like energy, wages and basically everything costs massively more ( water companies planning massive increase)

Sadly in the UK we buy products on price, not where they are made or designed.

It really is worrying, I have a friend who is an engineer specialising in 3d printing with years of experience,, working part time in a garage because there are no jobs out there. frown

This has absolutely nothing to do with Brexit, but everything to do with greed.
Companies want to maximise their profits, so will outsource their operations to wherever the workforce are cheapest, it is disgusting.
Just look at P&O ferries, they are still operating, paying their workers peanuts, far below our NMW and people (not me) still use their services.

Dyson is worth 20 plus billion yet feels the need to pull more out of the country he was born in and had all his success ?

Won’t be anything left here of Dyson eventually, amazing you can’t make enough flogging £500 hairdryers and have to move it all abroad.

They can make more than enough on the £500 hairdryers but they want to make more. Simple greed IMO.

Why is that greedy and disgusting?

If you want to buy a new car, do you get it from the local branch that's more expensive and has rubbish service, or do you get it from the other place down the road thats cheaper and better?

It's a bloody business, not a charity case. The reason we are not still buying porly fitting vacuum bags with the weekly shop is because innovation brings about the chance to earn some money.

For some reason, in this country, we think those that do work, should work harder and then give it all away to those that don't.

I’m the last person to defend Brexit, or Dyson, but it’s a global business operating in a global market and doing what it needs to do to remain competitive. I can see the hypocrisy of someone who argued that the U.K. would be stronger outside the EU, but it’s an inevitable consequence of where the U.K. is heading.

Hopefully our new government will start to develop policies and strategies to finally address the issue of low productivity and growth, dragging us kicking and screaming into the 21st century.

I’d guess the main reason is the UK increase in Corp tax from 19% to 26% last year.
If you as a business have the ability to go elsewhere why wouldn’t you?
Singapore is a 17% flat rate - that’s a massive saving.

He is the only shareholder, he is not accountable to anyone else. He is worth billions, he wants nothing because he already has everything. You would think he would have some pride in employing his own people and creating a legacy in uk communities where he employs people. Instead he wants to make even more money that he can’t possibly spend.

I call him unpatriotic which flies in the face of all the propaganda that came out of his mouth during the referendum

Sadly energy costs impacts everything and going forward is not looking good, here is a video explaining where we are heading and Asia is not.

This is the bloke who sued a newspaper for libel over their reporting of his championing Brexit then moving his global head office to Singapore.

He lost.

Dyson is not the brand it used to be and also has got into product lines that were too narrow.

As with all shiny new things we go for then as consumers but others catch up and it's all commodity.
