Requirements to declare all his financial interests as required by all MPs?

Both Labour and the Tories will itching to boot him out by all means fair and foul.

Saying as a left leaning voter who has, and will never vote for a right of centre party.

Regardless of what his demise consists of, he will no doubt be a staggeringly mediocre MP for the people who actually voted for him.

He might clock 2-3 hours in the Clacton area per year.

Not sure helping actual human beings to improve their lives is in his remit.

I think he'll do a Trump and refuse to declare anything... Then try to bully parliament via the media... Then he'll find out that doesn't work.

It'll be hilarious when it does happen.

Why on earth would Labour want to boot him out?

Would it be up to Labour?

I don't think he'll get booted out for it. Just repeatedly censured/punished as he tries to paint himself as the victim in the media.

Then again I doubt he's even going to turn up to parliament for the months where he's not speaking.

Still can't believe he got voted in as a MP.

Just want to him to shut up and go away, can't the EU make him an honorary MEP or something and dump him in Brussels.

Now he is an MP he can spout all his rubbish in the HoC without fear of getting into legal trouble.

It certainly is, IF that human being is himself......

Just listen to the speech after he was announced as the winner, nearly 3 minutes with 10 seconds about putting Clacton on the map, get more tourists in and some investment. Then it was all about reform uk and their (his) plans and finally he thanked his team but not the people of Clacton for the support and votes.

You can see the people of Clacton didn't make the priority list..

Happily, they really have nobody to blame but themselves, in this instance.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, however I don't think he can just turn up and spout any old crap for hours on end. They have limited time to address parliament and the speaker gets to drag them on topic if they start making speeches.

In Australia a nutter occasionally gets elected to a seat like Bumfk in Far North Queensland that has a population of 200 and a brain cell count of 2, they get to petition to address parliament at a set time and date. When that time comes about you'll see the houses of parliament so empty that you could hear the echo of a mosquito's fart. I imagine the same thing happening with Farage.

The HoC provides legal protection for MPs to say things without any legal threat attaching, a few years back when there was a fuss about super injunctions, one MP stood up in the house and named the person who was the subject of the injuction. If they did that outside the HoC they could have sued for breaking the injunction.

Yes, but they have to be allowed to speak in the first place. The government takes up a chunk of speaking time, and there's allocated time for the official opposition, but as a random backbencher he's essentially entitled to 1/650 of what's left.

Probably the Standards Committee which will be chaired by a Conservative

He seemed to get some airtime when he was one of 700 MEPs?

If you listen very hard you can hear a lot of PR enthusiasts having gone quiet.

I can't, the 2024 election is probably the most egregious FPTP outcome in history, and a few people have mentioned this.

Agreed he has to get time to speak first but Parliamentary Priviledge protects MP's when they speak.

That's a very valid point in which few people have any interest.

Labour - more or less the same share of the overall vote as last time.

Last time? Tory victory.
This time? Labour landslide.

Go figure...

From certain legal jeopardy. It does not mean that an MP can say what they like. The Speaker can and will jump on what is said and will sanction them for unparliamentary language. It will be interesting to see how Farage copes with that

I hope that the more the public see of him, the more that they realise what a charletan he is.

If were a gambling man, I'd bet on him being involved in an expenses scandal within a few years.
