Election eve... still a floater?!
Discussion
I'm sure others have been in this situation the night before previous elections, but not me, and seemingly a lot of people I've spoken too...
It's pretty worrying that I am still genuinely undecided, and I'm curious as to what proportion of the population are the same. It certainly feels like there is unprecedented uncertainty this time around. Just me?

Why be worried? Labour will get in. Your vote won't make much odds. It's pretty worrying that I am still genuinely undecided, and I'm curious as to what proportion of the population are the same. It certainly feels like there is unprecedented uncertainty this time around. Just me?

If you can't pick a 'least worst' option then IMO you're not really trying.
Why should you vote for the least worst? Would you buy the least worst house or car, marry the least worst partner? Woukd you go to the least worst restaurant and eat horsest instead of dogst because the horsest is the least worst? Its this kind of acceptance and encouragement of the least worst that has led us to this point where we have an unpalatable hobsons choice of mediocrity. biggbn said:

Because I'm an adult who can see that not choosing at all means I'm just letting other people choose, and wasting my choice. Saying "nothing ever changes" and then not doing even the bare minimum to enact change is a cop-out.
I'm a total floating voter- i just can't decide
I've more often voted conservative- but too many of the party are rotten egotistical wkers
BUT
i remember labour governments and they are all horrific- the growth in the state in the 00s was scary
"we've ended boom and bust"
"there are definitely WMDs"
"can't believe you let that horrible bigoted woman in"
I remember not being able to question multi culturism and immigration- its was massive group think that refused to even discuss that they might have downsides (much like the trans debate now).
I grew up in the 80s and remember the chaos left by 3 day weeks and endless strikes.
Its also clear that if we vote in kier we get the worst of all worlds- both very left wing AND too posh to have any real connection with the people- he's just horrific.
Worse is that i can foresee the damage that their tax rises are going to do to businesses and education - its going to suck out any hope of a proper recovery- those of us who work are going to be carrying 10% of the working population fr the rest of our lives!
So we're buggered either direction=.

Just my view....but the UK has deteriorated noticeably during my lifetime, but hey...I did not cause that!
I'm thinking of how the UK might be for my son and his descendents and how my vote aligns with that long term vision.
I am loathed to not vote or spoil. We don't speak German in the UK, so predecessors fought for democracy. I want to use my vote.
I think the media influences politics way more than it ever did and is not impartial. Tomorrow I am going to vote with my head and heart. Conservatives and Labour have been the only parties I have ever known in power and I can't give either of them the time of day. I don't align closely to any party's policies but I do want to see an upturn for the country to be a place where I still want to live and die. I have decided now.

Sorry, I disagree. If everyone really showed their dissatisfaction with this rotten status quote, change would HAVE to come. Huge amounts of spoiled ballots or an incredibly low turn put from an disenfranchised electorate does not give any party a mandate, it gives the people a mandate to ignore a minority government. Yes, I know this is borderline pie in the sky cultural anarchy I'm suggesting but hey, it's better than the dogst/horsest buffet so many seem happy to accept. Imagine applying the same standards we do for politics and politicians to the rest of our life; we wouldn't, couldn't.
We had a referendum on PR in 2011, which actually would have changed the status quo. Did you bother to vote for that?MajorMantra said:

Define least worst? Corrupt wkers, racist tossers, liars or higher taxes, increased cost of living and no doubt a war on the motorist? I don't want any of them. The only way I can express this is with a spoiled ballot. So, spoiled ballot it is.
I did wonder if this thread might appear…
I am in the same position, being entirely undecided who to vote for…
I have always voted conservative… but I just can’t bring myself to vote for them after the utter fkery of the last few years…
If Labour had some reasonably sensible policies (and I thought they might adhere to them, I could possibly be convinced to switch allegiance… They don’t though..
Lib Dem’s are going nowhere, and Reform just ain’t my bag..
In desperation, I had a go at the Voting Intentions website.
Chose three policy areas, read all the detail, gave it some consideration and answered truthfully..
And this was the outcome
So, that’s quarter of an hour of my life that I’ll never get back..
