They really are ripe to be made a harsh example of. Jail terms, lengthy bans from holding directorships, and heavy fines for multiple senior people might shake the rest up a bit into sharpening up their act - including other companies also causing outrage, like the water companies pouring sewage into rivers through lack of investment in infrastructure whilst sending stloads of money abroad in the form of dividends. We can start with the PO's head witch Paula Vennells though.

I agree. For too long corporate law has been enforced as lightly as possible. Courts have been incredibly willing to give directors the benefit of the doubt and assume good faith far too often.
