On the BBC news they said America is worried about the relationship between North Korea and Russia, yet the republicans (trump) are saying Ukraine is non of their business it is on a different content, America first.

Last time I looked Russia is on a different continent and so is North Korea, why is Americans so worried and once Trump comes in if elected what will change that will stop worrying America?

South Korea and Japan are strong US interests.

Russia has a lot of technology, resources and expertise that the DPRK would greedily lap up.

If they get fully into bed it could go from quasi basket case, albeit with a vast amount of meat and scrap metal to cause problems, to properly formidable.

A North Korea with the strength to match its gobbiness is not going to be easy to keep a lid on.

Trump has had meetings with both of them in the past, if he gets in the hostilities between US NK/Russia will cool down again.

Putin (and Trump) going to cosy up to NK is one of the most embarrassing things he could ever have done.

Staggering no one advised him of same. Makes him look weak as anything having to become allies with one of the poorest tinpot dictatorships on earth because you have no other friends

This. North Korea can't even feed it's own population properly. Putin is probably after some of their artillery that they have permanently pointed at South Korea in exchange for assistance with their rocket development programme. Let's hope that he's not going to offer them nuclear 'secrets'...

North Korea are like the alcoholic friend who can't hold down a job and embarrass you in front of clients. China treat them as such but only a desperate man/country would publicly embrace them.

Said before, its like "Bottom", where Richie, Rik Mayals character cosying up to Eddies social misfit mates, Dave Hedgehog and Spudgun as he is so tragic and doesnt have any mates, not even strange ones like Eddies.

Not sure what NKs issue is, that always reminds me of mistreated Staffy fiercely guarding a back yard on a council estate, snarling at anything that comes near to its turdy riddled patch or its pissy matress, like anyone wants to invade its territory.

The US havent been arsed, but if he gets the bump in tech to make his nukes work then we could be in trouble, if Tubbs did feel bold enough to attack the US, or US assets then his FAFO would come back to haunt him pretty quick.

The dickbags club is growing, expect China may distance themselves from this a bit, they arent whatever this is, they are shady but they arent quite tragic enough to be part of Putins "Great mates" loser club I dont think.

It’s another colossal failure of “our” policies that the circumstances have come about where North Korea is now . . sort of . . . important.

Even looking at some form of prosperity, on the assumption that they have a production capacity for munitions, especially artillery shells, that puts Europe’s to shame?

And US complaints regarding “supplying weapons to a war zone” won’t cut much ice among what we used to call the non-aligned, given Israel and Gaza.

It is frightening how the entire population of North Korea from 3 to 90 are brainwashed into total loyalty to Mr Kim, similar, but more so than the German population were to Hitler in the mid 1930's.

Very worrying times, at least in Russia Putin does not enjoy the support of a big percentage of the population.

Europe needs to up it's game, and not always rely on America,

China won't want Russia getting too cosy with NK. China will want to retain control over the regional problem child.

Given how much weaponry both the US and ourselves supply to various despotic regimes around the world the US "complaints" are the height of hypocrisy.

Biggest trading partners with the US:

1. Canada
2. Mexico
3. China
4. Japan
5. Germany
6. South Korea
7. UK
8. Taiwan
9. India
10.Vietnam

Strategically Japan and S. Korea are also key allies for the US in that region, and serve as a buffer against China.

Japan/South korea are rather useful for the US to rope in as part of their attempt to contain the chinese and prevent them from being able to break US dominance over the region. They have no such problems in europe given russia are hardly covering themselves in glory and showing much military capability in struggling to overcome a much smaller and weaker neighbour....
