responsibilities, including the appointment of a Parliamentary Secretary for Men’s Behaviour Change,

I wonder if Angel Reyner will announce a similar position here in the uk once labour gets elected?

I always find the double meaning of Victorian funny. My favourite was Victorian walker found safe and well. I imagined a man with a big beard and a cane wearing a pith hat being hauled out of the bush by modern rescue workers.

Here I imagine the Victorian government want men to wax their moustaches and doff their hats.

Good show.

There’s a job that shouts ‘career longevity’!

Acknowledging that the media has a corrosive effect on societal attitudes is a start, at least.

Is there a minister for women's behaviour?
No?
Well that's sexist.

Is there an epidemic of violence against men by women?

Seems that's how it's being explained as needed in Australia.

If you need to prioritise, ONS (or Australian version thereof in this case) homicide statistics might evidence that starting with men sounds like a plan?

Are we going to apply that logic to both sides of the equation?

Friend of mine (English) works in Aus.

Two weeks on then two weeks back home (Bali).

Funnily enough we were talking about this subject the other night.

He says you’d be amazed how many Aussies come in after their two weeks off with black eyes etc from fighting. None of the people from other parts of the world seem to do this.

It can be a very basic/macho culture.

Steroids are rife.

One of his team came out as gay (at age of 35?) and whereas in UK I don’t think it would have raised more than an eyebrow in Aus he says some of the Aussies stopped speaking to the chap. Months later it was still an issue.

Topic came up as I telling him last week I came downstairs from a cocktail bar I own to find a group of three young chaps, one of whom was sat on my parked bike. I said excuse me that’s my bike; apologies all round, got talking about music, numbers swapped etc…

He said in Aus its 50/50 that would have caused aggro - get off my fking bike…fking hell mate I’m just sat on it what’s yer fking problem?

In fact we had our first ‘proper’ Aussie tourists in 2.5 years in the bar last month. Three couples.

Wanted to put on their own music (who does that on walking in to a cocktail lounge?). When my staff refused, politely of course, the immediate response was not to say ‘okay, just asking’ but to launch in to a foul mouthed tirade. Thankfully my Manager (American) was there and advised them that they should leave as we will not tolerate rudeness against staff.

Genuinely thought it might kick-off. Thankfully it didn’t. First time since we opened that we’ve asked people to leave….and we’ve had quite a few Russians in!

Along with that we now get ads on the telly and streaming services imploring us to consult with the Victorian State Government with regards to consent. maybe they'll keep a register of consent and there'll be an app one can use to lodge your, ahem, sexual contracts.

I'll be interested to see if those concerned about the safety of their wives and daughters are in favour of such a thing, or opposed.

Meanwhile the roads outside Melbourne are falling to bits because the State Government is basically bankrupt.

They are too busy spending money on this ste, and all sorts of infrastructure builds in the city to buy the votes from their Union pals - all of which are massively over budget.

Ironically, the infrastructure builds employ the sort of morons most likely to go home and give their missus a kicking because she dared to ask why they’ve been at the pub for the 5th night in a row.

They’re also the sort of person who goes on holiday to Bali.

Womens' behaviour is perfect, apparently.

I sense some sarcasm. Is there a crime that is overhwelmingly committed by women that impacts society in quite the same way as that of men comitting sexual and violent crime against women and children?

Yep, if you think the Ryanair flight to Málaga is bad... You've never seen a Jetstar flight to Bali. PER-DPS has to be the worst.

For balance, somewhere between the two is a Spirit flight to Cancun. Even they make the Ryanair hens party look well behaved in comparison.

There's been a recent spate of violent crime targeting women in Australia recently. Not the least of which was the multiple stabbing in Bondi Junction last month which left 6 victims, 5 of whom we're women. The sole male victim was a security guard attempting to stop the attacker.

Casual bigotry has always been permitted by omission in Australia. It's the thing we see everyday but don't dare talk about because it's shameful and too difficult to combat.
