I'm developing an irrational hatred of these morons. Their action has no relation to oil beyond a stupid publicity stunt.

I really do hope they get jail time - selfish idiots.

Damaging nationally important items - regardless of your cause - is not OK.

It's also hypocrisy of the highest order given as a generation, they've benefited most from O&G. But hey... pull the ladder up.

They had zero intention of causing damage by having a bit of a chip away in a corner, of course. They would have been mortified.

This JSO lot really are bonkers. I can't believe anyone takes them seriously. They could do with reading Public Relations for Idiots.

I will stop there. Won't even waste a further pixel on them.

They had every intention of ruining the document. They thought it was protected by a thick piece of toughened glass. Smacking it in the corner with a chisel is the correct way of breaking it into a million pieces. The glass was probably laminated instead which doesn’t shatter. It’s a good example why you should have laminated glass in your house for better security.

A touch rich to get all environmental and righteous in your 80's.

No doubt a long walk to get there too.

Nah speed cameras are divisive (are they to protect or make money etc). The magna carta is a national treasure. Attempting to damage it is insane

There were a number of Magna Carta. A few remain, dotted around the country.

It is, though, the most over-rated document in English history. Firstly, it made no difference as John ignored it and, secondly, it is for the benefit of those who already enjoyed a lot of the benefits of being Norman. The indigenous population - us plebs - were ignored. In many ways, it reinforced the de facto slavery of serfdom. Shame it wasn't damaged.

But, of course, the attempt at whatever was successful. I mean, it's generated a thread on PH, one of the bastions of resistance of global temperature stabilisation. How cool (sorry) is that?

I'm surprised that so many of the PH massive have seen and admired the document. I mean, it's written in Latin, and I don't speak it, apart from legal terms.
