85 year old woman shoots intruder dead with .357 Magnum

So much to unpick from that report!
Burglar found her son, but didn't seem to wake him or do anything?
87yo, handcuffed to a chair, managed to drag herself to bedroom and back, survive multiple shots for ten hours - and son wasn't woken by a gunfight in the house?
The whole bloody story is insane.

Not really sure what to make of that.
We can't know but what are the chances the burglar was giving the intimidation one last go before scarpering? By the sound of it she was extremely lucky either way.
A weird Dept of Justice statistic is that of all burglaries that "go violent" (about 1:4 where the burglary is discovered by the resident) 65% of those are committed by intruders *known* to the victim and only 28% were strangers. The mind boggles...

Some good aiming by a 85 year old, especially while handcuffed to a chair.
Good on her. He was threatening her life with a gun, would he have followed it through, who knows. He put himself in the predicament. Sadly OAP burglaries can end up in murder. This one was less than a mile from us. He got life, with a minimum of 34 years.
