Angela Rayner and Capital Gains Tax
Discussion
I watched Angela Rayner on Newsnight last night and she was insistant that when she sold her proprty she employed a solicitor to do the conveyancing and "as any other reasonable person would do" left it to them to sort out the taxes due.
This is nonsense - it is her responsibility to ensure that she pays tax.
Then, she went on to say that she had since employed a tax expert who said that no tax is due.
But the interviewer said that there are only two conditions that she could have met for this to be the case. Neither of which she has relied on.
So, with this being the case how can she hope to evade the tax? And how can she get away with simply stating - my accountant tells me that no tax is due?
It's all very wishy-washy - and I would like to know how we as ordinary citizens can get away with it too!
