The very definition of woke.
Would love to see what the panel of people looked like that chose this.

Don't see much of an issue?
As London Overground has grown it's become a bit confusing as bits of lines have reopened or rejoined with existing lines and as they've been taken over and greatly improved under TfL control. This was the inevitable next step in trying to simplify travel on the Overground.
As for the names? Well, it's a nod to the history of the areas it goes through and for the Lioness Line a nod to the extraordinary achievements of the Women's football team as the line goes past Wembley.
Much better than the sychophantic fawning to the royals with the Elizabeth line.

Would have preferred more neutral line names, the Elizabeth line being the perfect recent example.
Let's turn this around and name one of the lines the Churchill Line. Why didn't that happen? Deep down we all know why because it would have angered the extremists...
Elizabeth Line was originally pegged to be the Churchill Line but Boris being Boris changed it.Let's turn this around and name one of the lines the Churchill Line. Why didn't that happen? Deep down we all know why because it would have angered the extremists...
Nothing to do with 'angering the extremists' whatever that means.

Not quite sure how changing the name from Churchill to Elizabeth can be framed as calming down the ‘extremists’ either.

I thought there would be a thread on this and it would mention the "w" word. I don't see these names as "woke" necessarily but I'd have preferred names that relate somehow to the geography of the line. Where is the Suffragette line going to take me to and from?
Well you can say the same about the "Victoria" "Elizabeth" and "Jubilee" lines. I think a more practical objection is that it doesn't really roll off the tongue, unlike "Lioness". Edited by JagLover on Thursday 15th February 10:42

True about the Jubilee and Elizabeth lines but the Victoria line goes through Victoria, no?I suppose "Metropolitan" doesn't roll off the tongue either so maybe we'll get used to the new ones.
