Events in Pakistan don't particularly impact me, though I'm aware the military have significant political power.

Recent election coverage has been the typical mix of things you'd expect from a country pretending to be a democracy

- candidates jailed by opaque court decisions
- opposition political parties facing interference and barriers
- heavy military presence
- internet and Comms blackout during campaigning

Plus political assassinations have been an occupational hazard over there for a while.

I was expecting the incumbent to award themselves somewhere in the region of 110% of all votes cast.

However, it seems parties affiliated to ex president Imran Khan have managed to claw a majority in the election, with a number of suspicious decisions being challenged via the court.

It has all the hallmarks of something that's going to rumble for quite a while.

I wonder at what point the military will decide enough is enough, and come down in favour of their supported candidate?
