Dr Francesco Tamagnini, neurophysiologist at the University of Reading, said it was "a great study", but more hard evidence on how the drug affected the brain was needed.

Isn't there a joke about men having two brains but only enough blood to furnish one at a time? biggrin

Fun fact (from a colleague who used to work at Pfizer) - consuming grapefruit/grapefruit juice can triple the effects of said drug. Do what you will with this information whistle

If you're getting a headache you're doing it wrong.

Viagra was originally developed as a blood pressure treatment. It's more popular function was discovered as a side effect. It's possible that blood pressure plays a role in Alzheimer's.

As the drug itself is now out of patent, it's more accurate to refer to it by it's generic name.

Men who are older with likely still attractive wife's are likely to be healthier who are both likely to be fitter. Who would have thought.

Before mixing grapefruit with any medication - at least Google what to expect. Grapefruit is pretty good a lowering blood pressure as is Viagra (that's what it was originally planned to be used for) so mixing 2 things that lower blood pressure doesn't sound great to me.

Oh, I didn't say it was necessarily a good thing, I merely said to do what you will with the nugget of information. I take no responsibility for the outcome of people not researching things for themselves, in the same way I wouldn't expect any other internet randomer to be held responsible for me dicking around with mediation based on a forum post.
As it happens, grapefruit contains an enzyme that inhibits drug metabolism, so more of it enters the bloodstream and it stays there for a longer time.

Long long before Viagra arrived, there was a very old fashioned angina treatment called Nitrocontin. I don’t think it’s available in UK these days but some countries still use it. It worked by relaxing the arteries in the heart.
It also had the side affect of relaxing other blood vessels and hence sold very very well in lots of countries. Basically it had a similar affect to Viagra.
Nitrocontin is nitroglycerin in a sugar (lactose), an interesting mix!
As a very young man, when you certainly needed no chemical assistance I used to work in production for a company that made Nitrocontin. It also had a second side affect if you were mixing it for 8 hours. It would give you a thumping headache. Health and safety wasn’t quite as good back then!
Hence arriving back to girlfriend with a raging hardon and a blinding headache. Tough times I tell you, tough times. biggrin
