Thought was worth a thread of its own, where do we see the future of drones going in whatever areas ?

Well documented the effect they have had on tanks and personnel in Ukraine, and those are commercial drones controlled by a human operator with 3d printed adaptations, then you see those displays of swarms of them drawing a picture in the sky, that is then animated, what else can they do ?

So you have these devices that are hugely manoeuvrable, fast and can carry a payload and based on the drone swarms there is the ability to deploy them in huge numbers, they are pretty cheap and disposable in the scheme of things.

Then you add in AI, which is when it gets interesting and perhaps a bit scary. Was watching a news item about the little scrotes on electric motorbikes terrorising neighbourhoods and the Police are powerless as they don't have anything fast or nimble enough, plus they get anger if they crash when being followed so was thinking, you target a drone to follow, film and report back where it was put away, from a distance and then the coppers pay a visit and claim the illegally used bike.

Then for warfare, of this is what we are seeing that has been hacked together, what is being developed ? The Amazon ones dont seem to have arrived yet, todays delivery was the usual harassed looking chap in an unliveried van. I know they can have the comms knocked out but if working autonomously thats less of a concern (dont know, is it ?)

Initially thought they were toys for nerds and voyeurs that also mean Youtubers could make footage that would have needed a helicopter before and estate agents/surveyors etc could get good aerial shots, but I feel like this is just the beginning and there will be many other uses.

It's just people doing what people do.... Leveraging technogy and advances in nefarious ways.

There'll be tech along shortly to combat these problems, which will then get used nefariously itself...and on it goes.

Until the machines have had enough of us (which nature will dictate when).

People tend to not think about the AI once its already in products they're familiar with.

These drones that are being used already use a significant amount of AI to make them easy to fly. Some drones already have the feature to lock on to a target and follow it.

Worth also considering the AI that the US/UK etc uses in their $million drones. Obviously it's top secret code, but they're alot more advanced than the stuff being used currently.
