Are we really wasting police time and resources on this?

How do they prove virtual rapes when they can't prosecute actual rapes?

There is probably more evidence it being online but I am not sure how it can be a crime

It depends on what they are investigating.

Would people say the same of online/virtual bullying? To me it's all bullying.

Clearly there are no physical aspects, but the person is a child and is reportedly mentally affected.

Rape might be the wrong term, but it's still very much within the field of harassment.

Why aren't they investigating all the virtual murders in Call of Duty? How do I report getting virtually teabagged as a sexual offence?

I've had some games on COD where I have felt violated recently but thats probably due to the Skill based matchmaking grossly over estimating my skill at it

Not played it for years, but I remember getting my legs broken, teabagged and forced to drink bleach in DayZ. Think it was one of the few times I'd been able to find some decent gear as well, but just laughed about it and moved on.

Obviously context is everything, and so in the absence of any example or link being provided by the OP I'm not sure where this thread is going to go... confused

The same reason they don't arrest boxers in round 1.

This makes more sense now so it's not rape its harassment of a sexual nature.

That would keep the police busy.

As for the case it is certainly unpleasant but hard to believe the police should spare resources for this when many crimes with real world consequences are not investigated.

I'd love to see that in court.

That would be like asking Sexual Assault victims why they didn't just stay at home.

If they had a magic button to return them home instantly.

I think there is a little more to this story than just the headlines suggest, and there is likely a complete log of everything that will make for some interesting viewing. I wonder if it will be made public.
