Got what they deserved - firing a pistol like that in a residential area they're lucky they didn't hit anyone else. No personal property is worth killing over.

If they have access to weaponry like that in the UK I’m sure they were fine upstanding citizens who never harmed anybody and have been unfairly persecuted.

Obviously a pair of wrong 'uns. But the balls on the bike thieves!

The jury heard following the shooting, the thieves returned and stole the bikes.

I think that you have some thoughts of your own on this subject or you wouldn't have started the thread, and I think that you should be brave enough to say what they are rather than hoping someone else will do it for you.

I think they were a bad shot, if they'd killed them then they would have been locked up .

Can't agree with that

I'd happily vote for the death penalty for all thieves - decent people have their lives blighted by utter scum stealing their cars, bikes, breaking into their homes, online scams...

I can't believe anyone is against permanently removing them from society - why would you want them in it ?

Pretty simple.

You can't just shoot people.

9 shots fired and only one hit, in the arm. He should be done for littering.

I think lethal force to stop a theft is perfectly reasonable. What is he meant to do, ask them nicely? Call 111 for a crime number while they cart away his bike?

Obviously that isn't the law at the moment, and there are the firearms offences but 30 years and 14 years? People get less for actual murder or raping children; or "manslaughter" where they violently attack someone who dies as a result.

They smuggled arms from America, drive in expensive cars and have a certain look to them. I doubt they are law abiding members of the community normally..

These two clowns had a Glock? They deserve to be locked away for years. I haven’t searched them but can’t think they weren’t already on the Police radar.

Sounds like they needed more target practice frown

If you're going to get sent down for that long you want to make sure you at least top em off.

20 years? Could have done us all a favour and at least practiced a little more.

Rather sounds as if they left the bikes parked as bait in a trap. Really not on, even if tempting.

Zero sympathy for the thieves- a pity that most of the bullets missed. Thieves deserve whatever consequences they receive- they went looking for trouble & found some.

Very little sympathy for the brothers- if they'd used a golf club rather than a pistol I'd have supported them wholeheartedly but an illegal weapon is going too far.

What ever happened to “the only good bike thief is a dead bike thief”
